Is anyone else concerned about Cheneys' health?

"He has been moved to a secure location",is what they say but does it not seem strange that he has not been heard from in two weeks. If he is healthy I think he should make some sort of an appearance, after all he is one heartbeat away from being president.

I read the other day that after his recent turn on Meet the Press, the White House decided to sort of hide him for a bit. Apparently--I didn't see it--he was super smooth, thoughtful, all over the issues, and it was decided that some might think George W might come off poorly in comparison. So, they sort of decided to keep him in the shadows for a bit. I don't agree with much of what George W was doing with regards to the environment, but I think he and Cheney have done an outstanding job with the war.

Maybe being out of the public eye/White House is doing good for his heart. The less stress he has, the better off his heart is. It might be a good thing just in case something does happen.

It only makes sense in a time of war to keep the Pres. and VP as far apart as possible. You know that Ol' Osama would take out Bush and or Cheney in a heartbeat if he gets the chance. One of the many great things about the Internet capabilities is that now Cheney can be put in a bunker in say, Crawford, TX and still participate in Video conferencing and act like he is actually in the Situation room. This summer I had the opportunity to use online video conferencing to deliver a lecture to a group of high school students who were attending a special school for those who want to go to Med. School. It is really quite amazing that I was over a hundred miles away and was able to interact with them just as I would have if I was in the room.

Yes I think of his health-the same as I do for Rush Limbaughs hearing. I sincerely hope we don't lose Rush from the air waves!

My brother thinks Cheney's "secret location" is the Bethesda Naval Hospital, that he's having more heart trouble and is ill and they just won't tell us right now for fear of adding to the whole "crisis atmosphere". But then again, my brother thinks the CIA trumped up this whole mess to give us an excuse to bomb some one. Go figure.

Maybe brother Cheney is in direct control and contact of the war effort and keeps the President appraised of all developements. Maybe he is being kept in a secret location so the secret service only has one of the top two targets to keep safe. Maybe Cheney is thought to have a vast amount of valuable experience and is more than compitant enough to handle all the "little" things and if the opportunity arrises that a satellite or a ground source recognizies an important target (such as osama "my luck is running out" bin)he can make an instant desicion and makes us that more efficient in our war effort. Then again maybe he is dead or captured by space aliens.AndyEdit: This is my way of saying if he was dead or incapable Colin Powell would be the next guy in (bummer for the rag heads) and I think the country would be on the band wagon behind this, I would. It also is seems obvious that the greatest asset W brought was his choice of support, there is probably no better choice alive today to prosecute this campaign. So lock him down safely and let him do what he like no one else can do. I believe this is the most intelligent thing to do with a VP of his caliber. No conspiracy, not showing up W (having Cheney was one of the reasons I voted for W), just good ol' all American smart moves.[This message has been edited by metz (edited 10-11-2001).]

I don't read much into this other than a smart move to be sure that we have one of our two top men where the bad guys can't take them both out at once. GW is target #1 for OBL right now. And it doesn't hurt to have Cheney out of the immediate stress. I don't know that I'm entirely comfortable w/ Colin Powell as top dog. He was, as I recall, urging excessive (IMHO) caution in the Gulf War and he's made some comments about the Second Amendment that would be at home in the Klinton Kamp.

Whats the problem? Cheney's actively involved in this operation, keep him safe and away from media iterruption. It's like keeping the computer away from possibly being damaged or unauthorized use, when you've got to use it day and night. This guy is indispenable to the Administration.Another thing, the media has been really prying for information which could be detrimental to our boys in the field, if they want front line news, let them go into the fire zone to get it. We don't need to have them writing stories, that benefit the enemy. The less info they receive the more succesfull the operations will be.We don't need any more peace demonstrations, fired up by news reports, right now..
