DC-Looking up skirts is legal

Olympia, Washington-AP -- Photographing or videotaping up a woman's skirt in a public place doesn't violate Washington state's voyeurism law.

That's the ruling from state Supreme Court today. The case involved two men arrested for shooting up women's skirts without their permission.

One case was at a mall in Union Gap in 1999, the other at the Bite of Seattle in 2000.

In a unanimous ruling, the court found that the voyeurism law only protects people in places where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy.

Justice Bobbe Bridge called the behavior of Sean Glas and Richard Sorrells "disgusting and reprehensible" but says it's not illegal.

greetings, i assume that holds true of kilts also. i find it hard to believe that this case would make it to a state supreme court, it has to be our infintile view of sex. it also looks like an indictment of the women's clothing industry. respt submitted dads-freehold

It's not mirrors on the shoes. It's tiny cameras.

Some people get a thrill out of taking pictures up some woman's skirt.

A few years ago, a guy got caught here hiding under a car at a mall. He had a video camera, and he was trying to shoot up the lady's dress as she got back into the car.

At the time, there was no law against what he was doing. There is now.

It was an honest mistake -- the practice has never been challenged in DC becuase it's an accepted way of life there. Always looking for dirty laundry.

I heard somewhere that if you are having a yard sale (flea market) and you have any newborn clothes, you are supposed to put them on a blanket on the ground, not on a table. That way the expecting mothers have to bend over to look at them. (A little good clean fun?) J.K.The incident with the camera was pulled by some kids at the flea market around here, and when they were caught, it prompted a new law to be written (I believe).
