Well, what did you accomplish today?

edited November 2008 in General Discussion
1. Got the Christmas tree up and lights on----the other decorations are the wife's responsibility.

2. Installed a new sound card in the wife's puter so that she can now download "her" music on "her" computer from the net.

3. Ordered 2GB of RAM memory for the wife's computer.

4. Got pork ribs (country style) on the grill.

One more "thing" later (leave that to your imagination) and it'll be a great day!

Not a lot. Been cold overcast and off and on rain.

Cooked breakfast, tinkered with a 6 mtr amateur antenna, shelled out a bucket of pecans, installed echo-link on my laptop and got it working. Had lunch, played on amateur radio (220), took a nap, periodically checked for deer in the back yard ate supper and here I am.

Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

My girlfriend and I had some lunch with her parents at Po-Folks.I just love their country-fried steak and white gravy. Then we took a ride down to the state line and bought a few lotto tickets. It was so warm and muggy I almost had to run the air in the car.About the time we got back to her place a thunderstorm rolled in and it has not stopped raining since.

Started my day Friday pm at 8 with my friends stoking the anagama
kiln. When I got there everything was already loaded on Wednesday
am. It took 8 hrs to load all the pottery in. They had it to
1700 degrees when I got there. Had a crew of 3 male teenagers,
and one female and myself. The oldest male and I did most of the
work, and later the new at it female jumped in and helped take
armloads of wood and warm it up against the kilms dome. Spent
6 1/2 hours trying to get the temperature up. Had freezing
drizzle after 12 am, so we were working hard at it. One of the
shelves tipped on one side where the plug was, and we had the
pyrometer in the other plug to register the internal temperature
of the kiln. Didn't get the cones to drop until 7am. By 8 am
we had her up to 2100 degrees. The 2 teens were late showing up,
my teacher got a few hours sleep and got back with us about 5 am.
I staid late after the crew fizzled out, and helped him till the
kids got there. Top of my forehead, tops of eyes, and cheeks look
sunburned. At times opening the firebox to stoke the fire, it
felt like my thighs were on fire. Kiln probably got stoked another
4-5 hrs after I left, and should be sealed up till Wednesday to
cool down. I'm going to miss it all, will be in St.Louis Missouri
for my father-in-laws funeral. Came home at 9am, fell asleep
in my filthy dirty sweat shirts, and jeans in the recliner. Was
too tired to move till after 4. Got up, made dinner for my family,
showed and washed my hair. That's about it. Cancelled my Dr's
appt, called in to work to let them know I'll be gone for several
    days, and started with packing.

Took care of the kids for a few hours so the wife could have some time to herself... got to the skeet/trap range about 15 seconds after they shut down the last field.. with the game, etc. they had no business for several hours prior :(

did pick up a couple of drill bits to use to make a new gas tube pin for my FAL, got some dark stain and more sand paper to re-re-finish my 10/22 stock I've been working on. Stopped by the gunshop and put a few more things up on auction....

Ran the dog five miles. (She'll do three miles easy at 20mph then settle into a 12mph lope for...?)

Function-fired my friend's brand new CZ-75B. (It works. No surprises there)

Played "Handsome Prince" to my my 3-year-old's "Beautiful Princess" for about an hour.

    Friday

Got up about 6:30 and read the paper and had breakfast. Left at 8:30 for a trip from Tampa to Ft. Myers to visit with my 94 year old Grandfather. Took the Xmas tree we got for him last year and set it up in his assisted living apt. Visited a little and then took him and his GF to Bob Evans for lunch. 94 and chasing tail, man what a life :-)

The trip back took a couple hours as there were two wrecks on I-75. How people can spin out and wreck in sunshine an 74 degree temps amaze me. One was a 350Z spun off into the ditch by itself, the other was a couple cars that got together and then spun off. This was the worse. Back about 4.

Worked in the yard until dark, shower and then off to the local pizza place for carry out. Had a Killian's Red, a couple pieces of pizza and watched football. Went to bed about 10 and asleep about 11:00.

Paid bills this morning, checked my email from work for abut an hour, playing on GB and getting ready for lunch. Will put up the Xmas tree after lunch.
    Regards, MAALOX

Cleaned the Savage 7mm-08, the Savage .260, the Savage .204, the Remington SPR310 12 & 28 ga's, the Springfield XD40 & the Taurus 24/7 .40. Reloaded another 200 rounds for the .40, gathered & resized all the brass that got the guns dirty yesterday,.going in the tumbler in a few minutes. Oh ya,..dug the CVA Optima out of the back of the gun cabinet for next weekends late season.
Gonna lay around with the dogs & watch football for awhile now.
(bet it was pretty easy to figure out mom is out holiday shopping with her sister for the whole day! Wonder what she got me?)

I'm working on an art project for work. We make armed robotic vehicles for the US military and we need a sticker design for the latest and greatest. Kinda hit a block...What I wanted is too complex. I can't quite give the robot the Big Daddy Ed Roth treatment I wanted and still have the thing recognizable...
