Pure Water Doesn't Conduct Electricity

On TV they were doing a special on bottled water. Some were Spring water, Mineral water and Filtered water. They showed how Spring and Mineral water conducted electricity but Filtered water did not except the one where salt was added. A five gallon container of water has enough additives to fill a cup the size of a coffee mug. Not all additives are necesarly bad. Additives being mostly natural ingrediants.

I found this Amazing. I won't drink Spring or Mineral water because it is only tested every so often. I won't drink Tap water down here in Florida because it smells like Sulpher. I drink Triple Filtered water only. I just learned that Dasanni Filtered water has Salt added so I won't drink that any more. I use a large Brita Filter Pitcher at home for cooking and coffee(big difference in taste of coffee).

Papa Tomato, Momma Tomato and Baby Tomato were taking a walk.

    Baby Tomato was lagging behind.

Papa Tomato went back and stepped on Baby Tomato and said "Ketchup".

Here in Hunt County, Texas there is a company called Aerobic Water. They use a reverse osmosis system that leaves the water truly pure.

On the display table at the county fair, Aerobic has a gallon jug of their water. Submerged in the water is an ordinary light socket, with bulb, plugged in and turn on. That light burns under the water, because there are no electrolytes left in the water to conduct electricity and create a short circuit. Water by itself will not conduct electricity.

My mother, who is sort of a health nut, uses a countertop distillery and she distills all her drinking water. She carries a bottle with her in her purse all the time, so if we go to a restaurant, she has her own drink with her.

    I agree with your mother.
Water processed by Reverse Osmosis is one part of the triple filtering sevice, the second one is Charcoal Filtering and the last is Ultra Violet Light. This is the only water I trust except when boiling water for extended periods of time, like 10 minutes for Pasta.

My dad (who is in Georgia) is like nunn's mom, uses a countertop distiller and will not drink anything else.We are getting ready to put in a system like you describe RugerNiner, only difference is we will have a sediment filter before everything else.

If I knew then, what I know now.

Have a nice spring fed dug well in my basement; I do test periodically. Yep, it has some mineral content, but it is damned sweet water. Out of the house, I tend to follow the W.C. Fields approach to water!

THE BEST bottled water I have ever had was Jack Daniel's spring cave water.

I was going to make a special trip back to the distillery to buy about a dozen cases but they stopped bottling it-damn!

The analysis on the water was 99.9% pure. At least that's what they said at Jack Daniel's.

I don't know what type of processing they used but the water was excellent!

Sooner or later we all will have to use bottled water or process our own because of the pollution.

By the way, where do you get those counter top distillers?

Airborne, our forefathers didn't have excessive populations pumping PCBs, heavy metals and other pollutants into the water - most of present day contaminants didn't even exist in the minds of man and at the population levels of the 19th Century, the level of pollution which did occur could be removed by natural processes. Malthus may have been wrong about food, but his thesis of overburdening the planet with bodies is rapidly being substantiated.

If you have a counter top still, I can think of better things to
    distill.

Filtered water and distilled water are two different things. Filtered water has been run through a filter (duh) that mechanically removes particles and/or removes chemicals through adsorption. Distilling water removes everything, including minerals and other ions. Minerals are not always bad for you in the proper concentrations and, in fact, we need to have a certain mineral content in our bodies. When you drink distilled water, it absorbs minerals from your body before being eliminated, which could lead to mineral depletion if they are not regularly replaced.

Be careful when drinking distilled water. It is much better to find out what is in your water, and then tailor your water treatment to remove just the bad stuff. Where I live, we have pretty good water on the whole. There have been some small problems with a couple of the city wells with an agricultural chemical known as DBCP. Also, our water is chlorinated. I use a flow-through filter with granular activated carbon (GAC) which adsorbs chlorine and volatile organic compounds like benzene and DBCP. The filter set-up cost about $30 and the cartridge gets replaced twice per year at $10 each. Water tastes good and is safe.

The only water I will drink is boiled.I boil it then let it cool and take a water jug that holds as much as your supposed to intake in a day and thats what I drink.I even use the water for my ice cubes.

The problem with distilled water is it has less oxygen it, which gives it a flat taste.

Boiled water also has less oxygen, hence the bubbles that come to the top.

Correct me if I am wrong..........
Reverse osmosis is just a sales gimmick.
Osmosis is like you stick the corner of a paper towel in water and it creeps UPWARD through it until the whole towel is wet.
So wouldnt REVERSE OSMOSIS be basically pouring it through a filter of some sort?

Reverse osmosis is not a sales gimmick - it does work. It is good for water with a relatively high solids content.

Osmosis is the process by which two liquids having different concentrations of ions and separated by a semi-permeable membrane achieve equilibrium over time. This is why drinking distilled water can be bad for you. The distilled water has a lower concentration of ions than the water in your cells and is separated from the cell water by the cell wall - a semi-permeable membrane. As the distilled water moves through your body, it carries mineral away from your cells.

Reverse osmosis applies pressure to the reaction and removes solids such as salts and precipitated minerals like iron and selenium.

So, Lightning, reverse osmosis is kinda like pushing water through a filter. water wicking up a paper towel, though, is an example of capillary action.
