Cops on the take

First they take the oath:Now look at all they take:They take it in stride when people insult them. They take your verbal abuse while giving you a ticket you really deserve. They take on creeps you would be afraid to even look at.They take time away from their family to keep you safe. They take the graveyard shift without complaint because it's their turn. They take their lives in their hands daily. They take you home when your car breaks down. They take time to explain why both your headlights have to work. They take the job no one wants - telling you a loved one has died. They take criminals to jail. They take in sights that would make you cry.Sometimes they cry too, but they take it anyway because someone has to.If they are lucky they take retirement. They take memories to bed each night that you couldn't bear for even a day.Sometimes they take a bullet. And yes, occasionally they may take a free cup of coffee. Then one day they pay for all they have taken and God takes them.MAY GOD BLESS ALL COPS. Author Unknown
This was attached to my paycheck at work today and just wanted to share it.Pray for all the officers killed in our countries tragedy and their families.

Thank you.One job you mentioned is the worst. Having to deliver a death message. Sometimes, the message is about an elderly, sick person and it is no surprise. That is not too bad.The worst is waking up some sweet little old lady, or not so old lady, and telling her that her son, or husband, is not coming home again because he was killed in an accident two counties away.

That was profound. Times being what they are, many are focused on a very big picture, and don't take the time to properly appreciate what happens in their back yards. Hats off to the fellas in blue.

I don't remember his name but a NY Leo went in on the day of the bombing to fill out his retirement papers. The terrorists hit and he went to help. He never came back. I saw this on the telethon last night. I take my hat off to all the LEO's out there and God Bless em.dano..cut back on the donuts will ya...

Thank you Oneminute!I could have written the script of what you printed (If I were gifted). It reads like my duty days and all that happened to me (Retired/disabled).Wisconsin has just introduced legislation to allow retired LEOs and active military to have CC permits, in light of the new hightened awareness/need for national security. (Don't tell Lowrider...he's still not happy with me because I suggested such an action). The way I see it...at least it gets ANY type of CC introduced and may follow for all in the future!

Thank you for those words and they truly define what cops/police are.Too often we hear of the bad, and rarely focus on all that are the good of the profession.May they be blessed each and every one.

I don't know where all of you are from; But I can assure you that if you were in northern Idaho your opinion of the (BLACK) uniforms would be different.

Yankee Clipper - having associated with many police all through Idaho I can truthfully say there are far more good than bad in this state.

TLynn I suppose if the were personal friends we wouldn't have any problems eather. Why don't you look and see befor you start defending them. Or is it ok for cops, judges, and the D.A.'s office to break the law and have no ethics codes where you come from?

YankeeClipper - not having cops for friends and having been on the wrong side of many in my lifetime I find your take on the law enforcement in this state to be slanted at best and inflammatory at worse.Cops are human beings as are we all. Too bad you seem to think you are above all.

Thanks for the post, not much of a job description so you kinda gotta give them a little credit. Regarding the other post, the miss' and I were discussing that the other day. For example, I commute to Cincinnati,Oh to work too many days a week. As you all remember our lovely riots this past april, well, the officer (Roach) is now on trial. PRE-WTC, its all you heard, every night, now it's not even on the local news that I've seen. 3 weeks ago they were still throwing things at cruisers when they drove by, now its all smiles and waves for our fine officers, none of which were involved in any way with WTC cleanup. I think it's sorry that, what, around 6500 folks had to die just to change a few deeprooted attitudes in this "land of the offended"Thanks LEOs, I hate the tickets, but I'm glad your out there everyday.Thanks-Ralph

Anytime someone makes a post about cops, the anti-cops come out of the woodwork. They sound a lot like the liberals they claim to oppose, don't they?I should like to know their motivation. Did they apply for the job and get turned down for some past wrongdoing? Did they get a speeding ticket they think they didn't deserve? Maybe some female dumped them and took up with a cop.Whatever it is, there seem to be universal attitudes among them. They hate cops. They think all cops are bad. They think they could do the job better if given the chance. And they think they can handle whatever comes their way without help from the police, thank you.Who ever said it is my job, you are right. It is my job, but it is more than a job. You have never done the job, or you would get it.

Go ahead and keep your head in the sand nunn. There was a posting earler that said "they came for the old and I did nothing for I was not old" Northern Idaho got rid of the Areian Nation because they didn't want any compitition. I DO NOT agree with the Areian Nation. But to bend and cercomvent the law isn't much better;Or is there a clause in the constitution that says the county attorney has to like you befor you are treated fairly? "Then they came for the poor, and I did nothing because I was not poor". I plan to do all I can, There are 4 boxes of justice. "Then they came for me".

I tried to post a topic that I knew a few people would enjoy and appreciate. Almost every LEO topic I have read on this board has been about the bad cops abusing peoples rights. I wanted to remind and encourage people that we are not all bad.Obviously some people are just to myopic and obtuse to understand that there are bad people in every aspect of our society and feel the cops are all to blame.BTW, I will not defend any officer that wants to use their position to abuse any citizens rights. However, I will continue to arrest them and assist in their prosecution. Just as I have done in the past.I did not intend for this to turn into yet another "Bad Cop" item but the usual naysayers have popped up. To them I would submit this. Why don't you quit all this pissing and moaning and do something about all these injustices! Obviously you have all the answers to clean out all the corruption! Please take the job and show us all how it is done! Otherwise drag your knuckles back into your respective caves and let the rest of us have a moments peace from your bitching!

Nunn They have laws to prevent us from protecting ourselvs. we have to hire lawers to get into court. If all else fails they tell us we'll nail you for making a false statement about a police officer,Is that a law? I can't find it. When they call in 6 officers to line the Bonner County court house hall way after a tril that they lost fair and square, just intimate the defendents, that should concern all Americans. This is not about me or my son, this is about the American way of life. When my biggest fear is a police officer and I have done nothing wrong; Somthing is really wrong.

The police in any locale are a reflection of the community they serve. Most people get the kind of police they want, and if they choose not to get involved, they get the kind of police they deserve.

I was a cop for 9-years and 10-injuries. I grew a very healthy hatred for a select few of my fellow officers. I was ordered to take a polygraph for missing bicycle parts. But you know....It still broke my heart to hear about those cops (no good or bad distinction need apply) give their lives in NY. Unless you spent hard time, I can't imagine you having had such a bad experience with a cop so you feel compelled to damn them all in any posting written here.
