Another Gun Tragedy

The headlines on Friday, in our local newspaper, announced that a 5 year old was shot in the head by his 6 year old brother. By Friday evening, the youngster was reported dead and the media's focus was on the use of a gun in this tragedy and finding the owner of the gun. The facts and circumstances surrounding this incident make any other outcome, other than a shooting, unlikely! The shooter was 6 years old and in first grade. His teacher described him as quiet. The 2 children were seen playing together 1 hour before the shooting. The shooting occurred at 3:00 A.M.(in the middle of the night for most normal folks). What is a preschooler and a first grader doing playing all night? No wonder he is QUIET during school hours. They were "supervised" by an uncle that was asleep (maybe passed out?) on a couch in an adjacent room. The fatal shot did not even wake him up! Someone on the street heard the shot, entered the apartment to investigate the noise and woke him up. The loaded .22 revolver, used in the shooting, was reportedly stuck under the couch that the uncle was sleeping on. The 6 year old found it there minutes before the shooting.Another occupant of the apartment was an 11 month old sister. She was found asleep, in a swing wearing a urine soaked diaper and covered in dried vomit. Apparently there for the duration of a "normal" night. The children's mother was summoned by a neighbor, and arrived on the scene, prior to the shooting victim being transported to the hospital. She was partying at the nearby "Bottoms Bar". Her age was reported as 23 years old. Her son, the shooter, is six. You do the math. His father was never mentioned. She is unemployed because she can't afford childcare, therefore she receives welfare assistance. I'm guessing here but probably Medicaid also, with 3 children and no job.If only someone could invent a dumba$$ vaccine!! This should not be recorded as an accidental shooting, it should be recorded as a homocide due to exagerated stupidity.Of course, some reporters will say it was the gun's fault. Robin

fox news was reporting last night that 70% of black children are now born out of wedlock. its 26% for whites, which is horrible enough. with the poverty of most single parent homes and lack of supervision and love not to mention proper role models in the home these kids are doomed before they get started. its so sad.

I see sterilization as an acceptable solution to situations like this.
