I know the mexican thing isn't the hot topic today but my friends parents just returned from there and I have a report, observation.
These folks are in their 70's and have spent their retirement years as missionaries in a small town on the Baja pennisula. They are very close to the people there and some they would consider dear friends.
I made a comment in front of them about Illegal aliens..one of those comments you wish had never snuck out. I immediately expected they would tell me how good natured, friendly and hardworking the meican paople are, how they just want a better life and how we should allow them to stay...what I got was quite the opposite.
I heard of the drug trafficing, slave trade, prositution and disease. I heard of the gang violence, poor education of the unskilled workers.
they said a fence is what is required...with armed guards.
They reported feeling safe in their small compound but being threatened while walking the streets and feeling uneasy in a town they have owned a home in for years. these are missionaries. every year they feed the hungry, clothe the poor and shelter the homeless.
Don't let this issue die....keep after your legislators and remember to vote, often

Gringos are easy marks!
Rural Mexico is like the Wild Wild West was in the 1800's in the US.

human nature and poverty....you cannot remove the human nature just because you remove the poverty
