If you like Harleys, don't be drinking anything when you click on this one![}:)][}:)]

74 Super Glide, rides like sitting back in a easy chair, not like riding on top a chain saw, as with the jap bikes. Take some 1,000+ trips next to someone on a rice burner, their not comfortable, or want to stop every 100 miles to "stertch". I would only go on trips of all Harleys along that way we could burn some miles and not listen to the whinning, or put up with the jap traps throwing a chop stick, and breaking down...[}:)][:D]
Fav bikes in ORDER:
1. VINCENT
2. BMW (Pre70)
3. Norton
4. Triumph
If I were to ride an "American Bike" it would have to be an Ole INDIAN!
Harley
Mountain Magic Gunsmithing
Sorry I like bikes that START!

Also add ZUNDAP to the list (one of my first rides!).
I'll take my "rice burner" any day over an under-engineered rattle trap.[}:)][:D]
built a thruxton bonneville, 8 valver, 5 speed in the mid 80's, no rice burner not even sheens suzuki water boiler could catch !! no leaks, no problems. lifted up in every gear, just on torque.. ! oh yes [:p] mmm.
Allow me to elaborate from the inside of the industry looking out.
Last time we saw H-D invest millions into a racing program or research and development to build a truly purpose built motorcycle their core demographic shunned it (that'd be the V-Rod). H-D was more than disappointed with this. Since then, H-D has turned their very few supported racing programs (drag racing and flat track) over to Screaming Eagle for management (out of disgust). Truth is the core H-D demographic does not want cutting edge technology. They are more concerned with other issues like looking tough to overcompensate for their insecurities or arguing about who's a "true biker". They also like to complain about the "yuppie bikers" ruining things all the while bragging about their bike value (keep in mind the "yuppies" are the people who have driven up the demand and price for the bikes).
My hat is off to H-D as they are marketing geniuses. You'll find no better company in the global market today. They know the H-D brand is nothing more than an icon (image...toughness) and that is their main focus. They also know exactly what their core demographic wants in a motorcycle (yes, under-engineered rattle traps in my opinion). Won't be long now before the market becomes saturated and the bottom falls out so in order to get top dollar you might want to sell now.
Now flame away.[;)]

A Harley with a 88B engine is smooth as glass! Not a girlie man bike!
Harleys are similar to cars they rack up big miles and last a long time. The days of vibrating Harleys that lay an oil trail in their path is long gone. Thats a tale from the 1960's, 1970's. Once the worker bees took back the company things have changed.
The V-Rod engine was developed by Porsche and will run with anything if you put the money behind it. Its hi-tech to the max. Water cooled, OH-Cam, etc

Why a Harley is not an American motorcycle
My 02 Heritage Classic didn't loose a drop of oil and purred like a kitten.
The jap crap is kewl for the younger kids, like the ones with the fart cans on their hondas.
Fast is fast. Kewl is kewl.
Enjoy the Ride!

The guy that has that angst website has it entirely devoted to bashing Harley's. Here, and on other forums I visit, some may go back and forth about different bikes, but we don't eat, drink, sleep, and dream about it 100% of the time. In my opinion, anyone with that much hate for anything is a sicko!
Looks alot like my old 1957 R60/2!....OH THE MEMORIES!
One of my fav hobbies now....collecting JUNK...slapping it on a tittled frame and riding it (what ever it is) till the wheels fall off...
LONG LIVE RAT BIKES!
Yep, machines that push the limitations of technology are "girly man bikes". That's a typical remark from a H-D tough guy.

You are spot on! I have always been a BMW fan. Sailing by rattletraps with various parts falling off along the way was a great pastime.
I speak the truth because I work in this industry...trust me I know what I'm talking about.[;)] As for BMW's, just have a look at what their years of research and R&D recently created (the evoulved K1200R). This is an AMAZING machine! Do what ever it takes to at least ride this work of art. It'll leave you breathless. Everything is fantastic on this machine...ergonomics, power, brakes, dependability, and a company that stands firmly behind it's product. No chrome upgrades or frilly leather needed to get respect on this machine. Friggin 100% work of art![;)][:D][}:)]
Granted, Harleys have come along way, but they still vibrate more than most, and as air/oil-cooled bikes, give off more heat than most and they cost more than most.
The do have their good points though. If you have one bike you want to keep riding forever, get a Harley, because you will *always* be able to find parts for it. And they look cool...especially an old panhead in hardtail frame with the front end raked out and extended a little.
Spoken like somebody who's never been any closer to riding a Harley than the time he sniffed the seat on one parked outside the biker bar.[:D] Stir-stir.
I was riding a 49 Indian Chief when you were still poopin your diapers.[:)][:D][:p]
Don't bet the farm on that.
I'm almost 65. Had a chief in high school (1955ish).[:)]
The Harley is a mechanism for converting gasoline to noise and vibration.
Hondas are a mechanism for converting forward motion into tumbling motion and garments into road rash.
I rode a 750 CB once, 30 years ago. Still healing up from it. Their V twins? My guess is that Honda was founded in anticipation of the HD patents timing out. Their V twins are pathetic wannabe HD's with shaft drives. Not a one of them will be around ten years from now, unlike the 50+ yo HD's.
Yep, sounds about right to me!
I think the honda mimic lost some of the nasal qualities of a genuine honda.
