I'll admit BB were pretty good but I think the Kingston Trio was better. If not better, just as good. What do you think of them? Tom

I don't why, but something tells me DWS started that BB thread with "tongue in cheek". Maybe to make a point? I could be wrong; I have been before.[:)]

Actually, I thought that whole late 50's early 60's folk music thing was pretentious, tedious and repetitive. I never got what the striped shirts and calypso pants were about, and the music sounded like middle-class white boys and girls singing milquetoast versions of tunes that sucked to begin with. The exception was Joan Baez, and this only on account of her voice, as she also fit into that Soho-Greenwich Village All My Sorrows ca-ca that used to make Barnard girls miss their monthly cycle. I think the Kingston Trio is to Beach Boys what the Cowsills is to the Beatles.

The Beach Boys learned their harmonies and those styles by listening to the 3-part and 4-part harmony of groups like the Kingston Trio, The Lettermen, the Brothers Four, etc.
