Anybody?

Ronnie and the Daytonas "Little GTO" - I know what a "rail job" is but what's a "gasser"?

Beach Boys - "Little Deuce Coup" - What is/are "ported and relieved' and "stroked and bored"?

Finally, from no song but in the same category - "Chopped and channeled"?

Gasser-Gasoline powered dragster and not alcohol or nitro powered

Ported and relieved-enlarging and polishing valve ports to facilitate smoother gas flow.

Stroked-Lengthening the push rods to achieve higher compression.

Bored-Increasing piston displacement by boring out cylinders to a larger diameter to increase cubic inch displacement.

Chopped-Cutting down the top of the car at the windshield to lower the profile.

Channeled-Cutting out a section of the body metal to lower the body down over the frame to achieve the same.

Lowered-Dropping the suspension either rear or front and rear.

    Raked-Lower the front.

They alway's said "If all that doesn't make it run fast, paint the wheels red."

Correction on "stroked", longer pushrods will increase valve lift, not compression.Stroked is changing the travel distance of the pistons by either using a different crankshaft or different length connecting rods to achieve-torque, faster rpms, compression and displacement.

It happened on the strip where the road is wide,
    Two cool SHORTS standin' side-by-side.
    Yeah, my fuel-injected Stingray and a 413,
Revvin' up our engines and it sounds real mean.
Tach it up, tach it up, buddy gonna shut you down.

When I was a kid I could never understand what they were saying when the Beach Boys sang the words "two cool shorts." It wasn't 'till a couple of years later when I was in downtown Seattle one night and the lightbulb finally came on. I overheard a pimp yelling at two of his women and he said, "Don't you backtalk me, I'll jump in my short and run over both you whores."

I thought to myself, short??, short??, damn, that's it, "two cool SHORTS standin' side-by-side." I was singing that song for the rest of the night. So you see, a man can even learn something from a pimp.

Lowrider, if it was two cool "shorts" then what is a short.

"Not as deep as a well, or as wide as a church door, but it is enough."

The lyric is definitely "shorts." I have a Beach Boys songbook and it's right there in black and white, "...two cool shorts..."

A "short" is hipster slang for an automobile. Here it is straight from Lyrics World.

Oops, that link doesn't quite take you far enough. Under song titles select "S", then "shi-shy" and then scroll down to "Shut Down" by the Beach Boys.

Anybody that's into song lyrics will love this site. Nearly every song you could ever think of is written-out on this Lyrics World website.

Lowrider that is a fabulous link. Now in Deuce Coupe, what is "I got the pink slip Daddy"?

"Not as deep as a well, or as wide as a church door, but it is enough."

"I got the pink slip daddy" means he has his title to the car with him. If you win, you win his car.

All I ever raced for was $hits and grins. Or an occasional $20-$50. That's about how much gas it took me to run a 1/4 mile.

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.
