Gun season will open soon. What will you be hunting with? I'll be hunting with my trusty old Marlin 30/30.

Since I can't use claymores to get the whole herd at once. 54 cal lyman deerstalker and for the close up (the one I trip over lol) S&W 686. Maybe a 12 ga 870, if I go shotgun season.

First, I like the response badboybob. Sounds fun.I'll be using a Ruger M77 MarkII .30-06 with a Simmons Whitetail Expedition (3-9x) scope and Federal ammunition. I built the blind earlier this year and have seen numerous buck scrapes during my scouting. I Can't wait!!!!

Buck tag in general season - Rem.700 chambered in ....... .280 Rem! Guess you could have figured that out, though, huh? "Any legal deer" tag in Muzzleloader season - .50 cal. St. Louis Hawkens stoked with some ffg blackpowder, topped with 385 gr. Hornady Great Plains bullet; devastating on any deer in my range. S&W 629 .44 Mag/Burris scope if I draw a second tag for general season..280 freak

Going to N.E. Missouri with my Ruger M77 .308 with Nikon 3-9x40 Monarch. Plan on using Winchester 168 gr. Ballistic Silvertips if they group well in the M77. I'm having the trigger set to 3lbs. right now and then to the bench to find out!

Just a clarification, In the Iowa deer shotgun season, you can carry a shotgun, blackpowder rifle, and handgun...and if so inclined carry all three at the same time.

With all these fine firearms going into the field this season I'll bet the deer population is gonna drop BIGTIME!! But I'll be a step ahead of some of you guys becoues before I even get my good old 30/30 out and dust it off I'll have already taken 1 or 2 deer with my bow. Bow season opens here monday!!!!!!!!!!!!! After that I hope to get one during smokepole week with my inline 50. cal. CVA Then I'll mop up the season with the Marlin, unless a deer just walks right up to me. When that happens the meat goes to my S&W model 686 357mag. Happy hunting!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm hoping a lot of things this year. I'm hoping that the boss will give me the days off I need to go see Rembrandt's beauties and tote along my Mossberg 835 w/slug barrel. If both my wishes come true, I'll also be heading out to Virginia with my Winchester Model 70 in .270 mounted with my new Leupold 3-9X40.

Yup, you're right about the track soup. I have had some great times in the woods, though. I have no regrets about just being there for the hunt (and reading the good book and talking with the author). But it would be nice to "bring home the bacon" one more time.bonne chasse!

DORNIER?? I'm a little slow sometimes, you may have to help refresh my memory. I live about 20 minutes from Hickory and fish on the lake there sometimes.
