Believe it or not, there are true a$$h@!es among us. I was watching the news today and the president of the Durham NC NAACP, Mr. Curtis Gatewood,said that "World Trade Center companies discriminated against blacks....", and encouraged others not to support our military because "blacks are going to get sent to the front lines.....and come home and get put on the back burner..."He also said "This is not the time to sacrifice our fathers, sons, and brothers to a country that has not protected our rights."Is this guy for real?And just who does he think he is?Last time I knew, our military ensured us all of our rights. I think the NAACP needs to wake up and actually see who works for them.This character Gatewood, in 1995, also proposed that blacks should boycot Santa Claus because Christmas puts too many black families in debt.I don't know about any of y'all, but I get into a bit of debt at Christmas time too.Kweisi Mfume, the national leader of the NAACP, stated that "Mr. Gatewood surely has a right to his beliefs, but they are not the beliefs of the NAACP."I'm not too good on this computer stuff, but you can find the whole story here : www.nbc17.com Anybody think this sounds treasonous?Or does this guy need to go to the nut house for delusional nincompoops?     I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you live in this country you are an AMERICAN not anything else like african AMERICAN,latin AMERICAN,or any other kind of AMERICAN. If you live here you are an AMERICAN and if you don't like that you can take your sorry butt and get out of MY country!!!!!!!! We as AMERICANS need to start standing together black,white,red,yellow,and any others I may have missed. If we don't our great nation could end up being a memory!!!!! Lets start our own association and call it " The by AMERICANS for AMERICANS association "Who's with me?

    Count me in. Unless I can get a free ride by calling myself an Anglo-Irish-European-french-Black-Indian-Cajun-White-Coona$$-American. Yep, got all them kinds of peoples in my family. Hey that would make me a minority and the NAACP would have to sue (free of charge, of course) anybody I didn't like because of the way they treated my great great great great grandpappy or because I didn't get a job 'cause of my heritage. hehehehe, Sorry guys, I couldn't resist.

    MAN...I am SICK of hearing from the hyphenated AMERICANS. I won't list them all here, not enough space and it would just get me more p----d off. I am also fed up with hearing people refer to the Negroid race as "African-Americans" and in the same breath refer to Caucasians as "Whites". If it's politically correct to refrain from referring to "African Americans" by their skin color, why is it OK to describe Caucasians by theirs? They used to be "Colored", then "Negro", then "Black", and now "African- American". If they want to be "African- Americans" why can't I be a "European- American"? Come to think of it, I'm not so afraid of "losing my identity" that I mind being calledjust plain old AMERICAN!!!!

    I actually heard someone at my place of employment ask another individual WHY they were wearing a red, white and blue ribbon? The person asking said that they should be wearing the green and red or whatever colors are symbolic of Africa. Again, I am doing everything I can not to f***ing explode. If these people actually think that they are welcome in Africa they're wrong. Africans do not consider black Americans as being Africans. The history of why and how many blacks arrived here is sad, I'll give them that. But, today, most blacks don't even have a clue which country in Africa their ancestors came from!!! I agree with the above posts - if you are a citizen of the United States you are an AMERICAN. If you are not a citizen then you are a resident in AMERICA. There is no in-between. PROUD TO BE AMERICAN

    OOOOPS....Sorry LIKETOSHOOT "American-Indian" is politically incorrect. I believe the "preferred" hyphenated name is "Native-American". OK ya' got me started on another rant. The term "Native-American" is B---S---.ANYONE born in American is, technically, a NATIVE-American. What makes the American Indian any more NATIVE than me? Just because their ancestors came here on foot across the land bridge between Siberia and Alaska a few years before mine came over in a boat?There I go again...on a rant!Just plain American-Mudge

    Shane, hope you get to type in the coordinates w/ OBL's name on it, you are *so* on target w/ this. I've been saying this for more years than some of you dudes have been around. The only country that has been successful w/ this schizophrenic attitude is Switzerland. Every where else, it divides them. Belgium & Canada have semi-civilized polarization. Ireland and Spain have to deal w/ homegrown terrrorists. And don't even begin to talk about Africa and Asia where whichever tribal / religious group in power today wastes no time in murdering the other people. For 200 years we were the world's greatest melting pot, sharing a common language (although often it was a second language) and common values. Why are we so strong? Because most of our ancestors had a commitment to freedom - religious, political, economic. Not a few were criminals by the laws of their homelands if not in fact. I don't mind in the least if someone is proud of their ancestors and wants to retain that cultural identification. *Provided* that they are Americans first and foremost. As in American of (fill in the blank) ancestry. But when its FILL IN THE BLANK - american, they belong somewhere else. So, yeah, I have a new answer to that obnoxious question on so many documents . . . Race? AMERICAN!! And damn proud of it.

    can someone tell me why there is not an association for the advancement of white people? the very notion that the naacp exists seeme racist to me. I agree we should all quit this bs and come together as americans, no matter the color,race, or religon.

    If there were a National Association for the Advancement of White People (NAAWP), the mainstream news media would label them a "white supremicist group", the FBI would investigate them, Jesse Jackson would call for people to rise up against this "racist organization", and the BATF would eventually burn them out.

    I'm a minority American- I work for a living, pay taxes, and haven't drown my children (although it's mighty tempting at times.) That makes me a minority these days. How comw I don't get my own organization?

    Just another quick tale to tell:I was in a Foodlion store the other day getting the usual staples (beer&smokes) and go to the express line.There is a hyphenated-American in line in front of me with way much more than the express line is supposed to allow. Do I really care, no. She goes to pay for her food with food stamps. Do I really care, no. She doesn't have her ID with her and asks the clerk if she can just run to her car and get it. Clerk says OK. Do I really care, no (but I'm gettin irate). So I watch this lady go to her car right outside of the store, in front of the register I'm at and get her ID from her NEW MERCEDES! Now do I care, yes. And much more than irate. I really think that the NAACP needs to go very far away, very quickly. They just make it easier for their own kind to get over on our government, and they try their best to screw anyone who isn't like them. Sounds a bit like a, a, a, hypocrite.....?
