Got to hand it to New Yorkers and all Americans

Them Big Applites are pretty good folk after all and so are the vast majority of Americans. Interviews with truckers and delivery people, cabbies, etc. trying to get on to Manhattan this morning almost unanimously stated something to the effect that they were willing to sit and wait for as long as it takes if it means everyone will be safe. And just the calm and helpful manner they've all pulled together with their mayor in response to one of the worst and certainly most shocking tragedies to strike a city in this country since Pearl Harbor is very inspirational. The news reports that ordinary Americans have contributed half a billion dollars for relief for families of victims of the WTC and Pentagon attacks in the two weeks since the attacks. Think about it a second. See what can be done if we all contribute as little as an average of 2 bucks a piece? I think that's a record. I think my faith in Americans is being restored by all this. Sad that it took a national crises to do it, but at least I'm thankful for that.

I know what you mean. I rag yankees alot, but anyone can look at those yankees in New York and see what our country is made of. They have made me proud not by "just" doing there jobs but by going above the call of duty to save lives and start rebuilding what hate took down. You look at the news and see all these people who are working around the clock in what must be horrable conditions with all the bodys mixed in with the rubble of those twin towers and you can tell that not one of them are ready to quit. I'm proud to know that those are my neighbors and fellow AMERICANS!!!!
