Final cost, including transfer fee for the lower and tax: $606.

It's a Stag lower, and the parts kit is... well, I got it from Model 1 sales. That's about as well as I can identify it. In any case I am very satisfied with the results; everything fits and functions fine. The Stag lower is great quality for the price.

I have to do one. It looks as though you've done a good job on it. Hope it shoots as well as it looks. [^]

Great job MND. You can now be welcomed into the first world of firearms and you can leave your third world 19th century bolt action days behind. I hope you are seriously considering becoming an AR-15 disciple.

In my opinion model-1 sales and bushmaster make the best stuff around related to AR style rifles. Since I tend to use heavier slugs, I would give serious thought to a 1 in 8 twist barrel.

Congrats on your purchase, and you should have many years of realible service.

The upper was $488 shipped, from model 1 sales. I went with the chrome chamber and bore, 5.56 NATO.

As for leaving my beloved Mosins behind... never. They were my first love, and I'll always be faithful to them. Just now, I'll have something that I can improve my accuracy with.

Nice job. I did the same thing not too long ago. Cheap and easy to do.
Now get yourself a BetaCMag for the collection.
Got mine from www.arizonagunrunners.com for $200...quick.

I really want to get a Model1Sales .30 Whisper upper and silence it for the next project. Can't wait.

Check Armalite and DPMS. I just bought mine from DPMS when the were first released; $900 out the door. I know Armalite my have recievers and parts kits; DPMS may have uppers now.

good for you! it looks great , and if it functions fine, all the better. I like the full size A2 best of the AR variants.

I always like the "full length versions" over the carbines too. They let you hunt with them in some states so I was thinking about something along the lines of a .308. I was on Bushmaster's website and their rifles in .308 are outrageously expensive.

gun tests just did a comparison and they said the armalite and bushmaster had terrible triggers......the dpms was the cheapest and the best ( about $1300 )

imay not know it all.....but at least I know that!

It came with both. I am not sure about the uppers themselves, I went with one of the kits which include everything except the stripped receiver. I'm pretty sure you can specify whether you want one or not using their online order form.

thanks, i figured i'd better ask because i didnt want to spend 300 on an upper to find it didnt have the bolt carrier, because that'd be an extra 110 bucks, so if it doesnt come with it i'd be better off buying a kit for 25 more i'd get the parts kit and the car stock included

    Man, you don't play!

The other day you posted a thread asking about building an AR, and you already have it finished.

The proof of the pie...let us know if it shoots reliably and accurately.

    Congrats!
