Ok...last commo til we get to where we're going when we finally pick up and move from current locale. I can't tell ya where or when but I couldn't even if I wanted to because my platoon's mission keeps friggin' changing and we haven't even gotten there yet. It's a long story.

I cut my guys loose for a couple hours to get cash from Finanance, go to the PX to pick up necessities and take care of other personal pressing business. I'm stopping here while one of my guys gets his hair cut.

I have my ninja suit but I'm not going to wear it even though the nights have been chilly here. I have a space blanket that I drape over me while I lay over my "woobie" on my cot. It keeps me "just right" and I don't have to put on all kinds of layers.

I'm starting to see the downside of coed units in the Army. There are certain things that really suck. In addition to those things which I won't detail here, they turn into a bunch of flirts faster than the men. Anyhow....

The food here has been GREAT but we get nothing but mineral water. Is that going to cause kidney stones? I know it makes me pee more than coffee or beer.

We had yet ANOTHER I.E.D. class today. This time the instructor started it off with a bunch of video footage of military convoys being blown up and the song "Everything's Wonderful" playing loudly in the background. That's friggin' demented!

Well, I'm taking my squad to the gym this afternoon and then I'm re-inspecting weapons. This waiting around crap sucks. Time to drive forward!

A recent issue of Stars and Stripes came out on Monday and the front page contained an article that continued on the inside of the paper. It was basically bashing Barrett and sales of the .50 BMG to civilians. R. Lee Ermey would be P*ZZED off! I'm staying pumped up but there are a few things regarding the prosecution of this war that have truly irked me. I'll save it for after it's all over. Just so ya know in advance so someone won't think I'm Monday-morning quarterbacking. I'm already taking notes. Michael Savage has already touched on it repeatedly. Mike is right.

You aint gonna believe this but things get better once you get into eerock[:D] If you make it to Victory take a day cruisin the hadji shopts, pick up a Nokia phone and get sim cards for Iraqna and Arabian Cell. Don't spend all your money on movies, you are gonna find a million of them. I have already bought close to $1000 worth of box sets, o wat an average of $50 per set you can figger I got a ton of movies[:D] Also check out the victory PX, it's like a freakin Walmart! Get chow at the Tigerland DIFAC, as close to home cooking as your gonna get!

Those IEDs, man bro those tings are killers. at 1/4 a mile away I felt the concussion off of them, they are huge although kinda pretty at night when they go off. They also love to take gasoline, soften up the asphalt and dig it up and place anti tank landmines in the road. We had a HET take a hit from a landmine, this vehicle is heavy, had a 30 ton crane on it, taveling at 45MPH and stopped dead in it;s tracks!

A little info on me, I run on the bobtail chaser teams out of my base, you know where that is. If you get convoy duty check to see if I'm doing bobtail duty on it. If theres a blowup I'll be in the heat right with ya doing aid & recovery on the driver.

Anyhow, incase ya lost it email me at redneck1314@adelphia.net or redneck1314@hotmail.com . I changed my flight dates to Monday instead of flyin out yesterday, I'll be in bagdad by thursday. If you are there email your new cell phone number and I'll call ya when I get there. We can go find NS and have a good time chasin some split tails around[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

We watched that same IED video.[:D] yeah those haji movies are like 3-4 bucks apiece. I've already got a bunch of them. Our fob is run by the air force so there's temptation running all over the place. Gotta keep my guys in check [:D][:D]

7mm_nut--Unfortunately, I won't be near you. I'll have to see about those hadji phones. My squad is testing my patience at the moment and there's a gazillion things to be done between now and movement. I don't think there are any hadji phones to be found here where I'm at. As a matter of fact, cell phones are STRICTLY BANNED from use where I'm at. I have a hard enough time finding a phone to contact an old friend who is a civlian working contracted security in the country where I'm currently located. He's minutes away and I can't even call him. I'm in tents and the only phones I can legitimately use are the AT&T international ones. The lines are LOOOOOOONG and I have too many squad issues to deal with right now. Internet is my only commo at the moment because I can sit down for 30 minutes and blast messages to multiple family members at once.

I'll email you but I can't guarantee a response within the next month. Things are pretty rough where I'm going and everything is chalked up to the unknown right now.

all i remember from my IED was a bright flash,..i dident feel anything,..when i came to, we where on our side, and i was back inside the 1114,.the five of us where banged up good but nothing got thru the armor. so have faith in your gear,..you are given everything you need to put foot to @$$.

and a personal favor to ask,...a friend of mine was killed by a rpg back when all of this kicked off,..kindly put a pair into every M.F-er your find with a rpg.

Possession of an RPG is legitimate cause to put a bullet in someone's *....wait....let me get the terminology right so I don't get sent to friggin' prison. Yes, now it's a war of words. Don't use the phrase "double tap" when you get debriefed or your * is court=martialed and your going to jail.

"Sir, I identified the target and confirmed that it was a threat before I fired a controlled pair at the target. I utilized two rounds of ammunition and acquired three sight pictures. I only fired until the threat was no longer a threat." Stupid bababooey like that. I swear this war is being prosecuted by a bunch of P*SS*ES. You are held to the same standards as a state trooper and someone in the USA using deadly force to protect themselves. You practically get punished for being proactive. Oh yeah. You can't tell the Iraqi National Guard apart from anyone else because they're allowed to have RPG's too. What's the difference between them and the insurgents? They have a cheap stencil spraypainted on the side of their beat=up vehicles that say "ING" and then have some hadji-words underneath it. Yeah....wouldn't be tough for the bad guys to make one of those stencils for themselves. A real comfort.

I'm NOT griping about being here. I just wish we were allowed to kick a little more *$$. Someone in Washington forgot that we are fighting a war. This isn't daycare.

I was just at the Army Post office in the IZ today. I inquired about bayonets because I hope to get some of my stuff home. Bayonets are a go for mailing as long as you have a sheath of some sort for it (making your own is allowed). Hookahs are a no-go. :( Although I have smoked some good Hookah with some of the Kurds I work with. [^]

I don't care what the democraps say, I think we're winning this War, if for no other reason than the fact that Idsman has so much free time on his hands.

Ids, dude we got alot to talk about with the SOP you are under in regards to firing. I aint bashing the Army please don't think for a moment that I am but givin the politics involved with the Army, myself and a ton of other people I work with pray for Marine and Airforce escorts. Only problem with them friggin crazy jarheads other than they have a few screws loose (well maybe more than a few) is they love to use us for bait[:(!] Kinda scary when you look the convoy over, it's broken into 3 different sections and you ask yourself, "where the hell is gun 5?" But on the other side of the coin, when something goes kaflooey you had better duck cause all of a sudden Marines are crawling out of the woodwork grinning ear to ear and guns a'blazing. Crazy sumbeeches!

When in doubt shoot the mother bleener. "I felt threatened..." Not that I'm promoting shooting for no reason, but if you feel threatened and you have PID of a threat, take them down. Who cares about paperwork, if you get you and your buddies home safe? Any CO that feels otherwise shouldn't be an officer.

Actually, it's like flying across the globe to be dropped out of the plane but the pilot keeps making loops and takes his sweet time getting to the LZ. I'm in a relatively safe place waiting for my window to open to go to where my missions will be. It's a waiting game. I'll disappear for probably a couple of weeks and then you'll know that my number was up and am where I'm supposed to be because my posts will cease.

Buuahhhh.!! just thought I'd say hi!

EMM--Roger that. We have a rider with us now. He's a member of the unit we're going to replace. He just flew in from body escort duty. Hopefully that sends it home in the hearts and minds of anyone in my squad who didn't grasp the fact that we're in a combat zone. Geez there's so much good stuff I wish I could chat about here. They've been real picky and wouldn't even let me take notes in class yesterday. Well, good stuff on this side of the big pond! Take care and keep the faith.
