England and Guns

We have an english gentleman that belongs to our club and today at the trap range had a very enlightening conversation with him. Seems anyone can own a sporting shot gun witht the proper permits. He travels with his Trap and Skeet guns into The US and England with no problems.. Hand guns are the problem.. However they are gaining ground. They are now permitted (and its the only manufacturer allowed) Taurus 12 inch Barrel Raging series handguns, with one stipulation, it has to have a permenent attatchment that goes down the arm sort of like the wrist attatchment on those sling shots but doesnt stop at the wrist,Kind of like an arm Stock, he said it must go down almost to the elbow making the over all length of the said handgun 28 inches long..Stupid but better than nothing, He did say they are fighting the gun bans and gaining ground ..

He also mentioned that the gun crimes after the total ban of handguns in 1997 went up about 300 percent and the gubment over there is just now starting to wake up..

Yeah, that goofey situp is better than no gun at all. But I sure hope the British criminals never think how easy it would be to cut off the stupid permenent attachment that goes on the wrist and also cut the 12 inch barrel shorter. Then the Criminal would have a smaller, concealeable handgun.

But I doubt they are smart enough to think of that. [:o)]
