What's going on with hi-caps on eBay? Lying?

I just ran a search for auctions on eBay for hi-cap mags (again), and the results are positively weird. Everybody claims their pre-ban mags are 10 rounds or less, and the photos sure as heck look like 20-rd. ARs, hi-cap Glocks, and so forth. Did the gun people on eBay all get together and decide to "wink, wink" call everything a ten-rounder. Of course it WILL hold ten -- it will also hold MORE than that, but hey, who's counting???

I assume you have to go by the pictures then. Some of them you can even see the Glock numbers up to 17 or so on the back of the mag. But it's scary to think you could bid up a so-called pre-ban mag and pay 3 prices for a post-ban 10 rounder. It's funny to see a "genuine Colt" aluminum preban mag for the AR and have it described as holding 10 rounds though. Sure looks like a 20 from here.

I agree with Merc, E-mail them, you can also look for the words original military surplus or a date of manufacture. I bought some nice HK-91 mags at a very good price there.

I can show you three different ad's for 30 round Ruger P-Series on E-Barf right now. The guy has a lighter next to it so you can seehow big it is.

I just bought an Original Hi-Cap 15 round Ruger mag last week on E-Barf.

I've been on ebay for a while, and its pretty much common practice to lie about capacity in order to sell hi cap mags. Believe it or not, most of the reputable dealers I delt with who have a picture of a hi-cap, sell you a hi-cap. Just ask them if its the exact picture shown. Also it wouldn't hurt to email ebay and notify them of the fact that your unhappy about their not allowing the sell of hi-cap magazines on their site.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

It is just a way around stupid rules. A friend had to advertize that he was selling "just the box" to sell a set of jarts. (lawn darts) They are not allowed on e-pay. Of course the jarts were used as filler when the box was shipped.Always email a seller with any questions before bidding, including "total" shipping price if not in the auction. That one is my pet peeve. Auction price $10.00. Shipping charged to buyer $25.00. Actual shipping cost $4.00.

If I knew then, what I know now.

An ebayer in Arizona was selling a single magazine for a 1911 Colt and wanted $8.00 shipping.

It could have been put in a padded enevolpe and mailed first class for under a buck. I no longer do business on e-bay because of people like these.
