Just got news that there a bunch of students demonstrating at the "diag" of the University of Michigan denouncing the use of force in retaliation for last week's tragedy. I really don't know how to react, I am so pissed. How un-American can these people be? That is the behavior of a traitor! Fu**ing people should leave this country if they're not supporting it. And, as the men and women of our armed forces board the jets and vessels that will take them to the Middle East (where they will likey risk their lives for US) these people demonstrate! UGH!

They think they're taking the moral high ground but the truth of the matter is that they're scared shitless of the coming draftand they sublimated their cowardice.

Same thing happened during the Gulf War, a bunch of us fought back by staging a protest of our own...the American Legion got out the people, flags, and press to cover a march to support our troops....we out numbered them 10 to 1.

Take classes at the local community college in San Diego. There is a Socialist group spouting the same garbage. Grind my teeth every time I see one of their stupid flyers posted, but that's what free speech means. Want to go to one of their meetings to see what kind of hammerhead would be a socialist, but making a living during those hours. Must have Mommie and Daddie supporting their sorry a$$es. "Anyone who is not a socialist at 20 has no heart. Anyone who is still a socialist at 30 has no brain." - Winston Churchill.
I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.--Voltare

As infuriating as these ppl are, their right to disagree w/ us and w/ the government is and should be unquestionable. Look at the huge % of posts on this board criticizing, even attacking, the views and actions of other individuals, of government agencies, etc. We're exercising our 1st Amendment rights as well. Even in WW2 there were those who opposed our participation. Before anyone ignites their flamethrower, for the record, I know these ppl are wrong & wouldn't hesitate to counter-demonstrate if I were within driving distance. But the right "to gather together to petition the government for redress of greivances" applies to the misguided, the misanthropic and every other American citizen equally. Idealism is an affliction of the young, but should receive the same tolerance as the cynicism of their elders. Our President has framed the conflict as well as it could be done - it is a fight to protect our freedoms, and one of those freedoms is the right to disagree & openly express that disagreement.

Their right to protest has been, and will be, intact. However, do you ever notice that any mention of the word "draft" is the cause of protests. I think right there we can see where the testicular magnitude of these people lie. I believe that the Vietnam war ended in 1975? I believe that the college protests ended the year the draft ended...1972? I pray that my 18 year old son will not get dragged into this, but he's strong, smart and loves his country. This is going to last a long time, unless we nuke (which I personally believe we should).

Thank you all for reminding me of our right to Freedom of Speech. I understand that, and I can respect that (and I will remain tolerant of opposing viewpoints). But, I still don't understand WHY people would dare be so disrespectful of those who may DIE for them? Selfish little spoiled brats. That is MY free speech opinion...

Funny how everyone gets all hot and bothered about their rights under the First Amendment. Too bad they didn't keep reading "all the way" down to the Second Amendment.....JMHO
