Ok, now we have met and know what each other look like. My question for all of you is: what did you get at this show? I followed NJRETCOP's advice and visited "jerry" in reference to Mauser parts. He coulnd't help me with that, but sold me a Mosin-Nagant 91/30 instead. I also found some feed for my carcano (less than $1 per round, too). I did end up finding the parts for my Mauser, eventually.

Mark, sorry "Jerry" couldn't help you with your parts, but I'm glad he sold you a new gun and so did I, lol. Then I bought a M1 bayonet and M1 tool. Gene, my buddy, that came with me, purchased a M1 Garand. All in all, it was a fun day and I really enjoyed meeting everyone from GB who made to the show.

Well nothing really caught my eye. But I did buy some target ammo for my pistols, and a few boxes of other ammo. Glad to meet all that made it there!

I agree, it was nice to have the opportunity to meet a few folks from the board. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, maninly because it was an out-of-state show for me. But, wouldn't you know that somewhere in the middle of that big hall I found a Dealer that I knew from Delaware, actually he is the closest dealer to my house, also from Grenwood but outside the town limits .. about 2 miles down the raod. So, with this new found information I began actively looking for the new Walther P-22 that I've been wnating to get, but at the same time wanted to handle before I ordered. Well, after seeing every table once I wasn't having any luck ... until I happened upon a table that I knew I had been to before but there it was. I asked to see it and the dealer oblidged but when I asked him to remove the tie wrap so I could cycle it and check it out a bit better he refused. What? How the hell do they expect to make any sales doing business like that? Needless to say I didn't bother to even take it from his hands. Another thing that I noticed was the amout of tables that had signs stating that they charged $10 for a phone call to do a BG Check .. what gives with that? The day was not a total waste though, I did purchase some software (GunTracker 2.2) to better keep acurate tabs on my personal collection, as well as meet a few decent folks, those being the folks from GB Discussion Baord.

Matthew, it was a pleasure to meet you as well. It's great to have a face with a name on a computer. Sorry you didn't find your Walther, and BTW that NIC check in NJ is even higher $15.00.My email address appears below.-Charlie

I may be out of my league here, but i can not believe that they can charge $10-$15 to do a back ground check on the merchandise that they are wanting to sell to you? It is the studip * like this that pisses me of. Usually these guys are already making enough of off us for buying the gun from them. Especially when the whole process takes 15 -20 minutes. I can see them doing a service charge if I were to use them just for their FFL. Like if I were to buy agun off of GB and needed the gun to be sent to a dealer so that I could have my background checked. That i can understand, but not being charged an extra fee forbuying the product from THEM.songdog

Live with it. That money does not go to them, it is a state fee. That is standard practice across the nation now.Boomer

I did not know that states charged fees for background checks. But i guess the states need to make money also.songdog

It is not a standard practice in Delaware, it is an option. Some delaers do it, some don't. I know only of one and he doesn't get much business for just that reason. He charges $8 for the NICS, if needed.

I was charged $10 when I bought the rifle yesterday. The dealer called his state phone # and told them he needed an out of state background check (I live in Maryland). Being from another state didn't seem to be a problem at all.

Was good to put some faces to usernames & actually meet some of y'all. Found some goodies and two choice specimens (mint original Jap ammo box and gorgeous 1914 Wimbledon Match box) which should generate enough revenue to cover my expenses plus two things for my personal collection. Drive back was a bloody nightmare and after doing the fishtail slide a few times, we pulled in after doing 120 miles or so. Rest of the 350 miles back on dry road today was a lot more pleasant, but don't know that I'll do that show again.

T'was great meeting you guys. It's nice being able to put a face with a name. I thought the prices at the show were WAY over the top! I did see a Barret semi-auto that Mrs. Mudge said it would be OK to buy. The caveat was that I'd have to give up my new "land yacht".Decided against it.Speaking of NICS charges, I've never been charged here. I know the cost isn't being added to the price because the dealer is my best friend and I see what he pays for the gun. I pay his cost and the shipping charges and that's it.Mudge the frugal
I can't come to work today. The voices said, STAY HOME AND CLEAN THE GUNS!
