Hello, MK1 and MKII grips do have some interchangeabilty. Also MK1 models come with 2 different grip frames.1949 to 1970 Standard, and MK1 target models have the A54 grip frame. This is unmarked on grip frame. Also A54 frames have the magazine loading button slot on the right side of the frame under the grip panel.A54 grips do not interchange with any other ones.1971 to 1981 Standard, and MK1 target models have the A100 grip frame. This is stamped under the left grip panel on the frame.A100 models have the magazine slot on the left side of the frame. Some early A100 models have magazine slots on both sides of the frame.Ruger used up some left over A54 grip frame right halfs so not to waste anything.A100 and MKII right side grips interchange as is. MKII left side will fit a A100 frame as is.A A100 left grip will fit a MKII left side by making a small cutout at the top for the slide release lever. There are lots of grips for all models out there. Please don't drill and tap anything to make it fit.I see grips every day on Ebay up for auction.I hope this post was not to long. Some that are hard to find are the special order grips for the Navy Seals that i just happen to have a pair of.Good luck,

EZ way tell them apart. The Early standard model has a the grip screw on the left grip lower then the later MkII or MkII. As mentioned in the early post this is due to the slot(s) on the frame.

Last night as i was typing my post here,i got one of each model pistol out of the safe.I did some grip swaping between different grip frame models. The MKII grips fit on the MK1(A100)perfectly with no gaps between the grips, and frame. The right side(A100)grip panel fit perfectly on the MKII grip frame. The left side MK1 (A100) grip will fit the MKII by a little filing at the top to clear the bolt release.Whatever grips you by,be sure to lay them on something flat to be sure they are not warped. If you have a A54 pistol, most of them had hard rubber grips that warped alot from age,and excessive heat.If you have a A100 or a MKII,buy the grips right from Ruger. They have the best price. The last pair I bought fom AJAX were $36.00 for phony ivory ouch.Good luck,
