Fingernail polish on each bite. What you have is a little red bug that has burrowed under the skin. It's going to itch until he dies. The fingernail polish seals him off and he dies. Creams etc relieve the itch but hes is still digging around in there and your going to itch much longer.Live in the land of "redbugs'" No land of bugs.

There are some things at the drugstore these days for treating insect and chiggar bites and stings that are pretty effective. fingernail polish helps.

Baking Soda paste applied to the area and liberal amounts of whiskey as an internal wash.........

Bactine seems to have more Lidocaine (or whatever) numbing ingredients so it works better for me than Sting Eze, Benadryl "tube" thing and all the rest I've tried. Chig-a-rid is hard to find and may be no longer made for all I know, it's like fingernail polish with Lidocaine, works pretty good.

bfair has it absolutely right. I know it sounds odd, but clear finger nail polish covering the entire bite seals the bite and keeps air from the exposed cells, which is what causes the itching. It also seals in the skin cells natural moisture and allows them to heal more quickly.

Get a candle, light it, and put the flame on the bite for less than a second. The fire will kill any bacteria and seal the wound. Then put finger nail polish on it to keep any germs from getting in. Do not put the nail polish on first, then do the candle thing, youll give yourself 3rd degree burns! Trust me I know!

campho-phenique found at wally world or any other retailer, comes in a green glass bottle. Or just camphor oil will work.

Just four bites? Man you've got it made. I bet I had hundred and fifty about three weeks ago. Teeny tiny little rascals but they sure do have big teeth. Don't worry, you'll be OK in about 8-9 days. Four bites , HA!

Mix a cup of bleach with a gallon of water and soak your hand for 15 minutes. Let it dry, then put clear finger nail polish over the area. The bleach water will put him to sleep, then the finger nail polish will suffocate him to death.

Notice, you must apply the fingernail polish before taking the darvocet

GUNNUT- Of course you do. You would not be able to find the nail polish after taking the darvocet.

bfair, I wouldn't trade all of our pansy Kansas chiggers for one little nest of your fire ants. Once while I was camping on P'cola N.A.S. I went out to pick up my dogs food after dark and put my arm down in a den, hive, coven or whatever them little devils live in. Other than your bugs I am very impressed with your town. I was there on a 4th of july and saw the best fireworks display ever. Also the Blue Angels coming over the campground at tree level when your not expecting it can be a life time thrill.

Man I hate chigger bites. Especially because of where they like to bite! The only remedy I have is to scratch the shiz-nit out of the bite until it bleeds. It burns, but it doesn't itch. Of course now you'll have an open wound to keep clean and disinfected. I'll take the burn over the itch any day.
Better to have and not need, than need and not have.
