Proof of ownership

Years ago when life was simpler I acquired a small collection of firearms via trade or barter with no paperwork involved. Today if I would want to sell or trade or for whatever reason must provide proof of ownership, I could not. Is this a problem I should be concerned about? If so what must I do? (some of them I've had for 20 years)Thanks.

    Or you could take pictures of them and list them by serial number on your Homeowners Insurance. That won't cost you anything
