Help Me Pi** Off Sen. Kennedy!!!

edited February 2004 in General Discussion
Sen. Edward Kennedy has always seemed to be the enemy of, not only gun owners, but an enemy of the rights of most American Citizens. I say most because he does fight for special rights for certain favored groups of citizens.

If anyone wants to pi** him off to the exteme, and do a good deed at the same time, we need to start a petition to honor Mary Jo Kopecneke (SP?) by placing her picture on a U.S. Mail Postage Stamp. Why do this you ask? Because if Sen. Kennedy, in all his arrogance and self-centeredness, had not killed Mary Jo on Chapeqickit (SP?) Island in the 1960's, Sen. Edward Kennedy would have been the US President by now. The nation owes that poor innocent young woman a debt that can never be repaid. We should at least put her picture on a stamp.

W-e-l-l, just be patient and if enough interest is shown here, I will invite all of you to write up a quick note (petition) and mail it to me and I will then send those petitions (notes) to the white house. Plus all of you will need to contact your own US senators and representatives to also help get this started. And the reason? Because she was a prominent American who HAS BEEN FORGOTTEN ABOUT! And her untimely and unwarranted death undoubtably changed the history of, not only the USA, but of the world. Because without her, Edward Kennedy would have been president of the USA for 8 years. And none of us want to even think about that. Oh, and another reason is to cause Sen. Kennedy some MAJOR heartburn.

You know, there is another resident of the white house that killed an innocent person during that resident's reckless youth....

Let's not forget dubya's drunken foray where he lied to america about being arrested for drunken driving where he ran his car off the road; the only thing that saved his sorry butt is that he was lucky enough not to kill anyone. [8D]

The wife of President Bush, Laura Bush whom is reported on in your link, was a teenager at the time of the vehicular death of her boyfriend. SHE WAS NOT A UNITED STATES SENATOR! Oh yeah, she is not and never has been ELECTED TO PUBLIC OFFICE TO MAKE LAWS THAT EFFECT THE CITIZENS..

In regards to President Bush, as you yourself mentioned, no one lost their life because of Bush's actions. But thanks for the info because that might come out later and need to be dealt with if we actually do get a petition going. It is ALWAYS good to have a "heads up". Thanks again.

Choice of stamp subjects is controlled partly by the USPS and partly by an advisory council. The White House has *no* input and suggestions from Congress carry slightly more weight than those from the general public - which ain't a lot. Various groups lobby long and hard to have comemoratives which recognize even non-controversial causes / people. Which isn't to say that the USPS & their advisory council don't select some very controversial subjects for reasons of PCness (Malcolm X, Frieda Something the Mexican Socialist, the Muslim stamp issued before Christmas 2001 are a few examples). As a general rule, Congress is very happy *not* to be involved in this, as everybody has someone / something they want to see memorialized on a stamp and it's a losing battle for the politicians - no matter what they do, someone will feel slighted or worse. You can thank Billary for the nation's first semi-postal (stamp which costs more than first class postage, with the additional revenues applied to a (usually charitable) cause), the breast cancer $0.40 cent. That was pushed on the USPS by Congress, but that was the first time and was about as non-controversial a cause as there can be. Otherwise, they either direct you to the USPS or forward it themselves, but they aren't going to touch it.

Much as I like the idea, it is so far from flying it simply isn't worth the effort. The only viable approach I can conceive would be to create some non-postal labels, although I wouldn't be at all surprised if her family were to object.

Sorry to rain on the parade.

Iconoclast:Yours was some indepth and useful information that saved me a lot of time to have to research. Thanks. But we cannot afford to pass this oppurtunity as has happened for decades. I mean the whole situation about Kennedy and Mary Jo's needless death and Kennedy's behavior is so vile I am astounded that the American public, and especially Kennedy's enemies, have not hammered him on this on a regular basis. Maybe in the years after Mary Jo's death, people felt sorry for Kennedy not knowing what an evil, left-wing, liberal social engineer he would become.

Can anyone think of a way to use this depraved story (if you remember it, if not ask) and at least particlly put Kennedy into a box? Suggestions?

Well, if no one ever seizes the oppurtunity that is just laying there waiting for someone to pickup and beat Kennedy stupid with it, it will never happen. It seems like such a pefect, perfect chance to give Kennedy a little bit back of what he has given us all these years. There has GOT to be a way. Just going thru the motions of asking congress to set aside a day for Mary Jo, of something like that, would have to cause a major and well deserved headache for Kennedy.

I don't know what, but I'm going to try and come up with something. Maybe a petition to the school book publishers to force them to include a page or paragraph in the American Govt. History books, or some such. Any ideas out there from anyone?

Very sick in comparing this to what Kennedy did. The man left Mary Jo to die while he saved his own sorry a**. Then he swam to the mainland which was a long distance (but was unable to dive down in a few feet of water to rescue Mary Jo). He then went to a motel and took a shower, had breakfast, caleed his buddies to help him out of the trouble, lied about the whole thing, paid off Mary Jo's
parents. Also was most likely drunk when the accident happened and was taking her to the beach to do her.

The thread started with the premise that "If anyone wants to pi** him off to the exteme, and do a good deed at the same time", we should take action.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Chappaquiddic (sp?) is old news. Kennedy did what Dubya did over and over - use connections to get out of a jam. The whole point of this thread was to do something to pi** someone off. So, how pi**ed would you be if you offed someone, accidentally or otherwise, tried to paint yourself as a paragon of virtue, and have someone bring it up 30 plus years later?[;)]

This country "owes her (Mary Jo's estate/memory) a debt"? PUH-LEESE!! Mary Jo's estate got a TON of money over this incident. If this country owes ANYONE a debt over what a politician did and lied about, there are about 550 dead soldiers and over 9000 wounded or crippled soldiers from operation Iraqi Freedom that are owed more than any country can possibly provide.

As much as I appreciate the opportunity, and will be happy to help in a small way to maybe get a sufficiently large petition drive to make the news, I doubt Mary Jo will be judged important enough in her own right to rate a U.S. stamp. She is mainly known for being a victim of Ted's drunk driving. Hardly a Susan B. Anthony or Florence Nightingale. Nevertheless, I like the idea of the petition because that alone would give her some deserved positive attention, and remind people why Edward's righteous rants should not be taken seriously. [}:)]

Blackie: well said. thanks for the additional details and I had forgotten some of them or never knew some of them.

ItGoBang: I am guessing the taxpayers pay for that small army that goes everywhere to protect Kenndy's wothless a*s. And what about the weapons that army carries? Fully automatic and loaded to the gills with those "cop killer bullets" that Kennedy hates so much. In fact, if Kennedy hates guns so much, why doesn't he have his bodyguards just rely on pepper spray or just plain running from attack like Kennedy thinks we common citizens should have to do.

Hey, does anyone want to volunteer to be the "front man/woman" whose name and address (po Box, etc) I could use. In regards to any type of petetion we come up with in regards to trying to remind the citizens about what an evil thing Kennedy did and went unpunished for? This might even get into the news across America and you know that would make Kennedy furious! I am not a coward, but without revealing all and thereby giving someone wanting revenge a free road map, but both my wife and I are very vunerable for the next couple of years. If anyone out there is through working and collecting a pension that can't be touched, perhpas they could volunteer to be the "face" on any project we all can come up with. I think if no one wants to volunteer I would, for the safety of the financial future of my family, I would have to wait a few years on this.Any volunteers?
