I'll Be Leaving Soon

Yup, I'm leaving for the Harrisburg gun show today. It's a three hour trip for me and at my age and condition, I can only drive one hour a day. I expect to stay overnight somewhere in Western NJ. With good weather, and driving conditions, I could be in Eastern PA on Friday and then on to Harrisburg Saturday. I'm just waiting now for my neighbor to come over and back my car out of the garage. He's such a pain.....claims it's cheaper for him to do it, than buy new garbage cans and have his lawn repaired whenever I back out.If anyone else is coming from the East, look for me on the road. I'll be driving a black Buick, which has damage on all sides. The way some people drive these days....sheesh! I'll keep in touch with my laptop. (Gee, that sounds obscene)Can't wait to see everyone on Saturday.Safe trip to all-Charlie MaGoo

Well I just stopped for the night. Been on the road most of the day, averaged about 7 MPH most of the way. Don't laugh unless you've been in NJ traffic. We are after all, the most populated state in the Union, God only knows why I'll be seting off in the morning heading for the PA border. Intend to stop, have a picnic before I cross and maybe take some pictures of the Welcome To Pennsylvania" sign for the grand kids, they'll get a kick outta seeing that. Will keep you posted on my progress toward Harrisburg. Car seems to be holding up well enough, only used four quarts of oil so far.Don't forget, if ya pass me on the road, wave as you go by..... -Charlie

Jeeze, Charlie, I thought I was bad driving 10 +/- hours . . . three days??! Bringing youngest son for many reasons. A big one, hopefully, that I will need a strong back to carry out the hundreds of pounds of ammo I'll find for ridiculously low prices. Leaving in about 3 hours - See y'all at the NRA booth tomorrow.

Charlie.....I'm going to offer to drive you home. If it's only three hours, it's no big deal. I hate to think of you having to spend all that time on the road. Mrs. Mudge can follow us and we can come home, straight down I-95 from your place. Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know what you're going to say but THE OFFER STANDS!!!! At least THINK about it.Mudge

Mudge the kindhearted, the offer that you and Mrs Mudge made to drive me home caused me to feel warm and fuzzy all over. Kinda like Mrs NJRETCOP made me feel on our honeymoon, but's that's another story. Can't accept your offer though, ya see I intend to buy a trunk fulla guns and gotta smuggle them back into NJ to fight 'em ragheads. Don't want you nice folks arrested at the border. BTW, I crossed the border today after having breakfast and driving about 25 minutes, I arrived at these things across the road called "toll booths". The officer there told me I hada pay .50 to get into PA, imagine that! I told him that I was born and raised in PA long before he was even a twinkle in his fathers eye. He said that if I didn't pay the quarter I would not get in. I said, wait a minute sonny, I thought you said .50. He said, yes sir, that's right. It's .25 in each direction, but we collect it all going into PA so that you don't haffta stop on the way back. I told him, look at me, in my condition and at my age, what do you think my chances are of coming back? If I die in PA, I will be out .25. He said that he did not want to argue about it, so he gave me a receipt that would allow my heirs to recover the quarter. Then told me to continue as I was tying up traffic. I said, I will, as soon as you wash the windshield. What? he said. I told him every time I stop for ethyl, I give the lad a quarter and he wash's my window. Then he said, look, every time you wash the window you wear out some more of the glass, soon it will be so thin that it might break! Made sense to me so I pulled away. What a great guy!Anyway, now I'm in PA and it's looking mighty cloudy. Sure hope it doesn't start to rain. Way back when I bought the car, wipers were an option and I didn't get them. Heater either. Dang things never work anyway.Time to stop for the day, spend the night here in Reading and head out tomorrow for the big day. (Been on the road so long, I forgot what show I was going to) but I'll be on time! -Charlie

Charlie.....I knew you'd say that. The offer stands. You can change your mind any time up to the time Mrs. Mudge and I leave. I think, between the two of us, we can muster up a little more firepower than those border guards are accustomed to.Mudge the defiant
