Legaility of selling firearms........

Hi,I am a private, non-FFL seller and have a question regarding the legality of selling a rifle and handgun while currently not in my home state.I am a Vermont resident and am currently staying for an extended period with friends in South Carolina.I'd like to sell a handgun or two and a rifle using Gun Broker (I have already sold one handgun about a month ago using Gun Broker) . They are with me here in SC.Can I legally do this and ship to an FFL as per the Federal laws while in South Carolina, from SC. Or, do I need to be in my home state to do so / Any potential issues with a shipper if I were to ship to an FFL from SC ?Not sure what sort of potentially slippery slope I could be on.Many Thanks in Advance,Rick

if you were on a 2-week hunt -in another state- and your rifle broke, if you wanted to send it to an FFL for repair...I don't think it would make any difference...in any state you were in! As for selling, since you are sending it to a Valid FFL for final disposition...seems to me you are within the requirements of the law...the catch here is (in your favor) you are doing it t-h-r-u an FFL...! Lets say you were at a gun show in Iowa and want to sell one of your firearms to an Iowa resident. Hand your firearm to an Iowa FFL holder and he will do the transfer! If you hand the firearm to the Iowa resident...there is a problem![This message has been edited by michael minarik (edited 04-01-2002).][This message has been edited by michael minarik (edited 04-01-2002).]

Rick,It looks like you've got a good answer already. So what part of SC are you "hiding-out" in? I'm in the Charleston area. Are you having any "fire sales"--perhaps to raise money to get back to Vermont before it gets too hot here? What are you considering selling?Joecompetentone@hotmail.com

Rick...as long as you use an FFL holder, you're clean.Mudge the learned
