NRA Exposes Hollywood's Love of Guns

All those anti-gun nuts in Hollywood are having their hypocrisy thrown back in their faces, thanks to a museum display sponsored by none other than National Rifle Association.

True, Steven Spielberg censored policemen's guns in his latest attempt to cash in on "E.T.," but money-hungry Tinseltown can never cover up its long love affair with weapons. And NRA's museum in Fairfax, Va., is making sure Americans don't forget the Hollywood-guns connection.

Crowds have been flocking since March 15 to "Real Guns of Reel Heroes," featuring everything from a flintlock rifle used by John Wayne in "Allegheny Uprising," to Dirty Harry's Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum, to Obi Wan Kenobi's light saber from "Star Wars," to Mel Gibson's Colt Model 1911 Pistol from "We Were Soldiers," Fox News reported today.

"It's popular culture. It's what they love, what they fantasize about," said museum program curator Philip Schreier. "It's about good guys prevailing over bad guys."

One can only hope there are gun props or film footage from such Rosie O'Donnell flicks as "Another Stakeout" and the horrible "Exit to Eden."

Supporters of the Second Amendment including NRA President Charlton Heston, actor Tom Selleck, writer-director John Milius, Roy Rogers Jr. and even "a handful of studios donated generously," Fox said.

The exhibit hasn't pleased everyone. "We do think it's the height of hypocrisy," fumed Nancy Hwa of Brady Campaign to Prevent Handgun Violence.

Uh huh. For a good laugh and a real "height of hypocrisy," refer to Sarah Brady's apparently illegal purchase of a Remington .30-06.

Yeah...They're flocking allright. I hope they're not as disappointed as we were. With all the "gunflicks" that have been made over the years, I would have thought they could have come up with something a bit more elaborate and comprehensive than what they did.

    Mudge the crestfallen

I can't come to work today. The voices said, STAY HOME AND CLEAN THE GUNS!
