H&K G36 and M4 on "Super Guns" show-Land Warriors

I found the "Super Guns" show on TALES OF THE GUN on the History Channel interesting. The two systems featured most often as the "next generation" were based on eithre a bullpup or carbine design. I find this fact encouraging because I've been a carbine fan for a long time. While neglecting to specify the gun calibers, they did spend a lot of time talking about the H&K G36 with several special night and thermal sighting systems, and computer capabilities, as one likely future Land Warrior system. Guess I'll have to look for more info on the G36, though I'm sure it's not in my current price range. Also interesting was the fact that the other system being developed is based on the M4 (CAR) rather than the M16. Also, on one of the breaks, a piece of interesting trivia. The H&K G3 came out in 1956. That makes it pretty old technology by now, and the CETME is even older. I may have to rethink my choices in my search for the perfect .308 carbine.

G36 is 5.56/.223. I haven't really looked into why HK doesn't get that into the US with some changes. They make the SL8 and Special Weapons LLC has made a conversion kit to make the stock look more G36ish, and there's a process to dye the gray stock black. Have never seen a picture of the finished product but my gut feeling is that it wouldn't be close enough to the look of the G36 to satisfy me.

The US military should be talking to the guy who runs Tromix systems.

He builds .357Mag, .44Mag, and .50AE AR-15s. I guess he worked on the recoil spring so it's more manageable.

There's a trench clearer for you.

Yea, a 50AE Ar-15, wow... Now that would be nice. I wonder what the terminal ballistic.

I think we should test it out on a few arabs.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

Correction. I guess the guy who runs Tromix couldnt sell enough of them, so he had to go back to work and build guns part time.

    Potential, man, potential.
