Guncrafter Industries 50 caliber 1911?

Does anyone have any more info on this pistol? Its supposedly built on a 1911 platform, but fires a new round, the 50GI?

    41 AE, 400 CORBON, 45 GAP, 45 Super, 460 Rowland any of these ring a bell. All of these proprietary cartridges look good on paper and actually serve a purpose (ok maybe not the GAP or Super) but unless you are just into oddball calibers they are just another flash in the pan.

    I must agree , too much money .

    Well at least for me .

    Would be fun though . Looked at a 50 cal AR the other day and was told that it had felt recoil of a 20 ga . Much better price also .(Around $900).

    Looks like a 50AE case cut down. I had been toying with that idea for sometime, something with a little more heft than the 45 ACP without the crushing recoil of the 50AE[8D] We'll see how it does, will probably be around longer than the 45GAP[;)]

    $2895??? What, is it made of gold? Thats way too high for a 1911 style pistol, I don't care what caliber it is.

    This will be a very short-lived failure for several reasons:
    1. The gun is WAY too expensive.
    2. Ammo is WAY too expensive.
    3. They say that conversion kits aren't available for previous 1911's (lose a big market, and it means lots of 1911 parts won't interchange).
    4. Rebated rim cartridges have a history of not working all that well. They tend to suck.
