U.S. Forest Service Bans Old Glory

edited July 2002 in General Discussion
Just heard on Fox News that the U.S. Forest Service has banned civilians from flying Old Glory or any other flag on National Forest & U.S. forest Service flag poles even if they are in your privately rented camp or cabin site. What the "H" is going on? Ever since Jimmy Carter, the U.S. Forest Service has gone down the left side of the hill.

Pack slow, fall stable, pull high, hit dead center.

I have a hard time believing that they will be able to enforce that one! Drive around most of Pennsylvania, especially western, and tell me just how many American and Rebel flags you see.

Really, I'll fly any flag any where I darn well please, its free speech, and if any park ranger tells me I can't, he's in for a whooping.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

You can do it but you have to have a permit. The guy that was given a citation for it, who had been leasing his cabin for 20 years, was recently given a personal apology from the Secty. of the Dept. of Agriculture, and the forrest ranger that gave the citation, upon a call from the states congressman to the Scty. of Agr. It worked itself out in the end, nice to see that.

The National Forests belong to the American people, not the U.S. government or U.S. Division of Forestry.

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

    4GodandCountry:

Obviously you have not gotten the word. The U.S. Forest Service belongs to the paper and lumber companies. The U.S. Forests belong to them and ranchers.

Ye, I got the word, and the word is "TYRANY"! The people are no longer in control of their government. Everything is under government control, and I emphasise EVERYTHING!

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

I suppose, it's okay for anyone to display the Irianian or Iraqi flag, at any campsite?

I guess some liberal in the US Forest Service feels displaying Old Glory might offend someone from another country.

    Absolutely Asbsurd.

    metal cutter,
Havent you heard? We have to study Mexico's history now, and the only pissing in public allowed is on the U.S. Cconstitution by our elected officials.

My understanding of this issue is that flags are permitted if the pole is mounted on the cabin itself or if the flag is draped from some part of the cabin, but no one is allowed to dig a hole in the ground since the area was once inhabited by Indians. Yeah, it's still pretty asinine (Reverent voice: ...and here we have a sacred place where a native-American, for reasons not yet clearly understood, once put one rock on top of another...)but not quite as damning as the original post would indicate.
