Give it a good cleaning with JB paste and Sweets before you go!! Only run the brush through from breech to muzzle!( which way is the bullet going?) Give it 3 shots to settle in, shoot a group with a premium load unless you have something that has worked for you on various guns in this caliber and then decide if you want it!! $400 doesn't sound too bad with scope and all. You still have the action to build something on if it sucks!!! 98% OF THE GUNS IN GUN SHOPS ARE TRADED IN BECAUSE THE PERSON THAT OWNED THEM DIDN'T KNOW HOW OR WHEN TO CLEAN THEM!!!! GHD

I`ve got an older(well 70s)M-70-XTR SPORTER in 243.The thing was awesome, off the hood of my truck, when it had the cheap Bushnell it came with.I`ve since put on a cool old 3-9 Weaver Marksman scope, can`t hardly wait to try it with this scope.I may take this one with me,when I go visit the ol` Groundhog Devestator. .218
