Gun Show Today Was A Joke !

Went to a gun show today hoping to find a Ruger MK-II in stainless to match my 10/22. I found 2 and both dealers wanted too much and had "take it or leave it" attitudes. This was a small show here in south east AL,and I know that the market is up right now because of the attacks, but that really rubbed me the wrong way. I left there and went to a dealer nearby and got a price 50 dollars less and ordered the gun. Should be here within a week. I feel like going back there and showing both dealers at the show what I paid.Probably won't though, but I guess gone are the days of a better deal at a gun show. Any of you seen the same in your part of the country? At least ammo was about the same price.Go figure..

Hey, at least the gun show you went to had guns. I went to one here in Mobile a few weeks ago, and there were maybe 3 tables set up that had "decent" guns. One table, local dealer, had probably 100 new pistols and about 20 rifles. 2 or 3 other tables had a few shotguns and rifles but not many. The show was horrible!!!

I went to the gun show last weekend a small one in a town about 50 miles from my house a guy had a Chinese AK-47 for $1,100.00 I almost asked him if his mommy dropped him on his head, however it was the only Chinese at the show the rest were Romanian. The thing that I find that concerns me more is the fact that the shows around here continue to get a little smaller each year.

And so the shows here in northwest ark also are getting smaller. I figure that it's because the gun scares of the last 10 years have made people buy up so much stuff that they don't need anything else, so they don't spend money and dealers just don't go small towns anymore.

Went to a show in Dale City here in VA and there wasn't much there. Got some nice AK mags, but overall very slim pickings. The only guy there who had some decent stuff is this guy Trader Jerry, and he once screwed me out of a Glock mag so I won't do business with him. Should you ever meet up with him, I'd suggest you head the other way.

Hey Rogerglide, Next time your looking for something in Southeast Alabama, talk to "Pelican". He has a couple of shops around Loxley and Foley and might have what you want. Plus He's a heck of a nice guy just to shoot the bull with.

Gun shows sometimes can be plain pain in the neck ,In 1983 I traded a rifle for a .22-50Italian-american made semy auto ... All was ok good looking untill I tried it out ,the darn thing was working full auto andjust ripped half a box of ,22s out of the barrel in 1/10 of a second ,was imposible totrace the guy (Fake papers) as was the gun .Aparently smugled from Europe. Advice ...Buy from dealer, at the long runwill be less legaly problematic .
Good , Bad ? Who cares? as long I am the one with the GUN..

Here in OH, the shows put on by Niles Gun show, including the one at Niles, Berea, and Akron are all very good. Their Sandusky one stinks. Maumee Valley Gun Collector's shows are very good, and the Conrad and Dowdell show in Medina is good too. Fremont is fair; very small but decent guns. There are more but I haven't been to them. And yes, I still find bargains.

Judge: Nothing wrong with buying at a show. Just use your head. Lots of the exhibitors are dealers with shops and reputations to protect. Always demand a written receipt with the seller's name, address and phone number on it, as well as the make, model, and serial number of the gun. You can get this from an individual seller as well. If he won't give it, BIG alarm bells should be going off in your head. When I worked shows, I posted a copy of my FFL and Resale Permit. Also my rules for sale. I gave receipts. I also had lots of repeat business.

Hit the Hernando (FL) show last weekend (my first one). Very disappointed. Ammo was selling for 50% above KMart! Figured the $5 was a cheap lesson not to waste my time in the future.
