Mudge mentioned that he has relatives by the name of Lanier...I have relatives by that name. The very famous southern writer Sidney Lanier, was related .Lake Sidney Lanier and Sidney Lanier Bridge,in East Georgia, and Sidney Lanier High School,in San Antonio Texas are just a few places named for him, throughout the south. Also,Greta, from "Days Of Our Lives" is a cousin, her mother`s maiden name is Lanier. My mother met her at a family reunion...I never did,but she is beautiful...it runs in the family...Right mudge?.218 the relative.

Keeper, if not by blood, certainly by characteristics - both of you are witty and pleasant folks.

Bee-There is no such thing as a "famous southern writer". The North does not take Southern writers seriously.

Well then Beekeeper, I'll take you. As it happens there are also some Laniers in my family as well (by marriage). I think these would more likely be infamous than famous, but they are mostly in Florida with you.

Beekeep.....I didn't answer 'cause I was out doing "house husband" stuff. It's a possibility....My mother's relatives got to the Carolinas from Ireland, in 1649. Then spread out through the south and ended up as far west as Missouri. My mothers great somthing-or-other uncle was Joel Chandler Harris. The guy who wrote the "Uncle Remus" stories. Her whole family was quite prolific (as was the tendency of that time) and with marriages and such, came the connection to the Laniers, Owens', and Marriotts. And yes, beauty runs in the family. My mother was quite a beauty. Inside and out. Mudge the cuz
