I have heard more then a few people talk about neighbors like they are bad folks. How do you feel about yours? I like mine. We shoot together, clean guns together, watch football on the 64 inch toget her and we even plan cook outs together. They are good folks. I know I am a very easy person to get along with I have no problems with any of my neighbors.

If you will blame gun makers for every shooting then blame car maker for every car accident.

I don't do things like ccasey612 does but I do get along with my neighbors. I talk to some of my friend's neighbors more than I do my own. If you check out my post in "new home owner question .... tree trimming" link: http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=31970 you can see we do get along well.

Im thankful I have none right on top of me,but I have one close by in his seventy's and he is what I call a Neighbor. He's always giveing us stuff out of the garden among many other things. And he calls about every other day,and I do things to help him.Ive got one on down the road who was abused during her Marriage, and she used to come running to the gate screaming for help when he was after her.(I was afraid something bad was going to come of it)She finally got rid of him.She also is a likeable person,I was just afraid her husband didnt have the since not to come up here after her,and could have caused a bad situation. All in all Im happy with mine.I guess were lucky.

I live in a small cabin in North Idaho with my Bernese Mountain Dog ("Eiger") and some horses. My nearest neighbor is more than a mile away. After raising my daughter and fighting LA freeways for years, I pulled the plug three years ago to find peace and quiet. Now, just deer, moose, bear and turkeys come by to say hello. I do believe I found my paradise.

My neighbors are terrible. On one side we have the ones that won't wave or say hello and they act angry if my daughter or dog should step on the sidewalk in front of their house. They are so neurotic its funny. They once killed their entire lawn with chemicals and then removed it only to have sod put down. Apparently, they didn't like the breed of grass that they had.

On the other side is a neighbor who hasn't painted his wood exterior home in 25 years. The gutters are falling off and his landscaping looks like its wild. They will say hello but they won't make eye contact, I think maybe they are mentally retarded (not kidding).

The neighbor across the street is a 90+ year old lady, she calls the cops if you park in front of her house. It is not illegal to park on the street, but she is paranoid that cars will leave oil stains on the road in front of her house. She too does not say hello, but I think she can't hear.

The rest of the neighbors are okay, but we've decided to move.

    Danceswithsheep, I like your idea!!

Northern Idaho is beautiful and too darn cold for me. So I live in NM and get along with some neighbors well, watching each others houses, getting the trash can out of the street after pickup, and just wave at others. None bad, just some not very interesting.

The neighbor to the north of me is a thief and the word masterlock is used around here alot. The one to the south is a crackhead and paranoid as hell. He built himself an eight foot wooden privacy fence
around his back yard. He then placed a six foot step ladder in the middle of the yard so he can climb up and observe the surrounding area. He is always on something and scorched out of reality. This is one of the reasons I keep a loaded weapon on hand.

Mostly the rest are Highway patrol. Generally they don't bother anyone unless the situation goes south.

A better question would be 'How do my neighbors feel about me?' I had my house-warming party Saturday night and I'm sure it was a little noisy for awhile

My neighbors are pretty cool for as much as I can tell in 30 days. The one couple is kind of the yuppyish-city dwelling type. I very much doubt I'd have anything in common with him. The other couple seem really nice. Though the last thing I want anyone in the neighborhood to know is that I have a small arsenal in my house.

I'm somewhat of a solitude, keep to myself person so I'm probably not going to go out of my way to shake every hand in the neighborhood. I grew up out the country and then mostly lived in an apartment the last 6-7 years. As much as people comment about apartments and having to live so close to people and hearing all the noise, I miss the anonimity that came with it. I look at this place as just a waypoint to when I can move back to Wisconsin and find a place in the country again.

My pa-in-law lives 125 yards to one side of us(we live on his land)and nothing to the other side. One family lives across the street and they are nice folks.Living close to my pa-in-law is the biggest headache. My wife said if I could get a job somewhere else in another Schlumberger company we would move. She wants to live where it's cold.We live in Alvin Tx. now, south of Houston.

I live in a subdivision of $160,000 homes filled with a bunch of Jetta driving, mini-van lovin, closed minded LIBERALS. Most of em got their heads shove so far up their posteriors it's pathetic. What I enjoy doing most is cleaning my assault rifles in the OPEN 2 car garage. The HORRIFIED expression cast upon these folks faces when they see my ARSENAL of man killing metal is most PRICELESS. Home for me will be the panhandle area of the gulf coast, sun, salt and warm gulf breezes. Oh yeah.

I have a one acre lot in the middle of town, so instead of having two or three neighbors like most people, I have NINE. Yes, NINE!

Most are pretty decent, some I haven't seen. We do have one neighbor with a run down place that is vacant. The neighborhood association has been trying to get them to tear it down for YEARS. Unfortunately, in Tucson, if you keep the grass cut, and it isn't falling down on someone's head, there isn't much you can do. :(

The 6' fence that is around half of the property really helps to keep out the riffraff. :)

We have an older couple we know pretty well, and a couple others that are nice. No major problems.

One of my neighbors was moving out a couple of months ago. I said goodbye to him as he was loading up the moving van, but first I had to introduce myself to him. Lived next to him for seven years and never talked to him. Didn't even know his name. The people who bought his house made a point of knocking on my door to introduce themselves. That's probably the first and only conversation I'll ever have with them. I'm not particularly interested in socializing with people just because we live on the same street.

My neighbor knocked on my door after he moved it. First thing I noticed was the big .44 magnum he had as a side arm. He was pretty bold to come out like that. He is a really cool guy and out spoken.

We live on a nice quiet street. On one side is a schoolteacher and his wife that enjoys hunting so he is cool. He has me watch his dog when they are out of town. Our neighbors across the street don't keep the light on for trick or treaters or put up Christmas lights. But he is kinda cool. I found a little patch of stickers in my front yard and was out picking them the other day. He came across and asked," Whach ya doin?" Hung around a bit then went back home. Talking stickers with your neighbor is cool! On the other side we just had our neighbors of about 14 years just move about two weeks ago. That was pretty tough. They had children the same age as ours and it was neat having our kids grow up together. Back when I used to party I used to go over and slam a few cool ones down with them. I haven't
talked to the new neighbors yet,,don't know if I like 'em or not. Within a block we have 3 deputies, 2 city officers and one highway patrolman living.
I do envy those who have the luxury of secluded country living!! When my youngest graduates from high school in 3 years,,,were outta here!!

My sister lives in LA county, been in the same house for over 30 years. This is a racialy mixed area And they have good friends all up and down the street. About two years ago black couple moved in the other side of the street. He was LAPD or county sheriff and his wife worked for the city. Well, they started getting notices from the city to remove the weeds from the cracks in the sidewalk,Trim the fronds on their palm trees, things like that. Then they get a letter in the mail a letter to get there white * out of the neighborhood, then someone calls the fire dept. at 3 in the morning saying there house is on fire. The police where their so they showed them the letter. The police traced the call back to this guy, and found out that the letter came from him also. He used paper from his desk at work and whited out the letterhead. After all this, all that happend was they made him retire, so now he can be at home all the time to pester my sister and brother in law. Other people have had problems with this guy also, just one bad apple.

I'm only 26 and I just started college (Military and Government work weren't for me) So I live in an apartment, I hate it and dislike my neighbors. The one above me is old and literally a crack head, The one next to me is young and his girlfriend is a screamer. I can't wait to buy land in the middle of nowhere with my closest neighbor 5 miles(ATLEAST) away, with a small house a workshop and a dog. My goal is to have enough land that I can have my own shooting range. You would think as coservative as Reno NV. is they would have a shooting range or two BUT NOOO the closest one is 45 min. away. Well what can you do??? Dances is the land for sell next to you? I'll let you use my shooting range

Neighbor to the left, prison guard, ok person we sometimes talk but not much. Neighboor to the right, self employed carpenter and I believe a Jehovas Witness. This guy gets up with the roosters and runs every power toy known to man, he is remodeling his home and does the work on the weekends, when I'm home! No we don't talk. Across the sreet and down 1 house resides one of the wackos that caused all the commotion here a few weeks ago, she is raising tiny terrorists that run amuck up and down the street cussing like sailors, we definately don't talk. Directly across the street is a single(?) woman, vehicles visit all night there, must be discussing current events huh? We don't talk. Up from her is nothing but retired snobs, we don't talk either.

For a backwoods hick who was raised on farms and in the country this really stinks, why I bought this house I will never know, maybe the redhead had something to do with it, all I know is I came home on eweekend and all my stuff was here. I WANNA GO BACK TO THE WOODS! I DON'T BELONG HERE!! HELP ME!!

Neighbors to the north are very elderly, in their 80's. Don't see much of them.

Neighbors to the south both work out of town and are away all day and most of the evening. No kids.

Further south is a redneck type with a bigger redneck young adult son. They make noise with motorcycles some, but not much.

I would prefer no neighbors at all, but I didn't get to pick this place.

But only I have the key to my shop.

I've only got one neighbor that I can see from my house. I live up in the hollow behind him. He's in his early seventy's, lives by himself. Most of the time I can't get by his house without him running out to give me some vegtables out of his garden. I think he gets lonely sometimes cause he really likes to talk to me when he sees me passing by. If anyone comes to my house when I'm gone he finds out who it is and what they want, which is a good thing. Couldn't ask for a better neighbor.

We live in the south and I am originaly from L.A. I have to say these people are crazy!!!! at first they thought I had money and everyone wanted ro be our friends...but when they found out we had zip they all went home ...first we had a car stolen and put in a ditch then, we had all our food taken out of the frezzer [everything that wasn't in tupperware] Then our cow [with calf 1 mo old]was found 4 hoves up was fed a couple gallons of anti freze. We found for sale signs at the front of our property, and dead road kill thrown up our lane. then our house was vandelized and then we came homeone sunday to see all our ducks impailed on the T posts up the drive and several hanging from the trees by the house. from there we had a black boy try to bother our 16 y. o. daughter and our big dog attacked him and then the dog was shot later but survived. then the truck was stolen and was found in the next town over with the drunken neighbor in it. The lady next door tryed to shoot my 15 y.o. son because he went on her property to get our dog that was pro-creating with her * in heat. I 'm still not sure if she wanted pupies or if she wanted to have a reason to yell at us! The guy down the street seemes to be a real great guy, he beats his dog and girl friend, and rarely goes to work .the guy across the street is from Ierland and has guns every where in his house even next to the toliet! I have to say I dont seem to fit in around here and was even asked to "leave" the church down the road, They were haveing a money drive to build a bigger building, but they said there was no place for poor people like us. WELL I dont want to live here and would like to move, Ive been toIdaho my realitives live in BonnersFerry 8 miles from the border. Tools hates snow , he sayes he shoveled too much as a kid.I like snow but I'm not sure thatI want to hear him grouch about snow for years to come just so I can be happy. I wish I could find a place to live that people want to get along and that apprciate that we are quiet except when I sing in the garden, or when Tools is shooting. I just want to be able to pull out of my drive and feel like I dont have to duck!

Neighbor to the west seems to be ok. Gave us some stuff from his garden and that was the first time I've talked to him in the 8 mths I've been here. The guy to the east is great. Went to school with his son. 85 yrs old, buys and sells firewood, collects junk, and lets me shoot in the back of his property. Got us ( he usually shoots too) a nice little place to shoot.

Only have 2 houses I can see. Mountain behind me, mountain in front of me. The one to the east has a yuppie in it, (who is moving soon). The first conversation I had with him, he wanted me to cut down my 100 + year old trees so he could have some more sun in his yard. The second time was when he rolled a rock down the hill and knocked my gas pipe off of the meter. That was good for an adrenalin rush. The house on the other side is always quiet. I have never had any problems from that one. The only time there is anything going on there, is when I decide to do something. Oh did I forget to mention that it is mine and I am remodeling it? I use it for storage and for my shop. If I ever finish it I will lose my shop space, and have to work in only one room. Been working on it for about 10 years now. I guess I am not in a real big hurry. LOL. I guess I should really get it done, so I could move in, and get rid of this one (or rent it) then I would not have any house payment. Just my "rent" in the form of taxes.

One neighbor seasonal, don't see them too often, one across street active shooter but otherwise little in common, other side older couple, nice folks who like their privacy past them, a mixed bag of situations. Too many folks. But like someone else said, I can be a good neighbor w/o being sociable, and I like that. I'd move to ID, MT, AK in a heart beat but she who must be obeyed is looking at moving from here to some place w/ *more* people. Don't know how that will play out.
