Warning lables on the barrel?????????

Why? I'm so irritated - I buy a NIB Ruger Vaquero Stainless w/7 1/2" barrel and down the side is printed " before using gun - read warnings in instruction manual- available free from......". Why would they marr up an otherwise beautiful 45lc with such drivvel. I know why - but it is so stupid that we are reduced to putting up with this type of degradation. I am tempted to send it back to the factory and tell them to rebarrel it without idiot warnings.

I know exactly what you mean and I detest that warning too. I'm probably one of just a few who thinks the GP-100 is a good looking revolver and what ruins it is the warning. You could ask Ruger to rebarrel it but I'm pretty sure they'll reply with an emphatic "No" out of obvious product liability concerns.I don't know if a gunsmith would take on refinishing the barrel to remove it but I'm sure they would ask you to sign a disclaimer before they tried. You could try removing it yourself but then don't ever use the gun for defensive purposes; it would just be more bait for the defense lawyers.

I'd agree with you that it defaces the beauty of a gun....seems a lot of other companies are just as liable for their product as Ruger is for theirs, but they don't print the entire owners manual and disclaimers on their gun barrels.....

One word. UGLY!!!!!!!I love the looks of my stainless Vaquero...from the right side. From the left side it makes me want to hurl.Hey Tic, how do ya like that shootin' iron? I have one in .44 mag with a 4 5/8 in. barrel. Man, I love that gun. I put some macasser ebony checked grips on it and it looks even better now. The Ruger smooth grips didn't give me a real good hold on it.Slap leather, pardner!

Yeah - I replaced the factory grips with checkerd wood. feels alot better and shoots great. I had one of the ubertie's for a while and like this much better. I do have a Uberti in 45lc w/the ACP cylinder in 4.5 barrel and it feels a little bigger in the hand but has the smooth grips.

Ruger has been doing this for 10 to 15 years now, and no you will not get ruger to remove it. I know some one that did remove it on a blued gun and it looked ok from a distance but if you looked real close you could still see it and it had to be reblued acourse , I guess it depends on why you buy the gun , to look at it or to shoot it . ( and yes it does looked better without it BUT ) Look at marlin they put a lot of writing on their rifle barrels so i guess its just not ruger

Yep, I've got Ruger and Marlin rifles both with the writing. Heck, might as well put the 2nd Amendment on there too, at least I'd be happy to see that.

I can see it now, 250 years in the future an archaeological dig uncovers a 45LC Vaquero. Examining the corroded firearm closely the archaeologist concludes he has found a late 20th century handgun manufactured by the WARNING! Company.
