LEOs and Criminals

Where I'm from it's hard to tell them apart unless they are in uniform. When it comes down to it,which type will come to you're door and demand your guns. They both come at night one type with govt supplied gear and the other with only a pillowcase to carry away the loot. All the LEOs I have known are crooks who only skirt the borderline of crime until they get too greedy. Most are powerhungry bullies who take to authority like fish to water. There is nothing worse than a criminal who lives like a leech on society, but there are other leeches that take tax money and do nothing in return.Next chapter,I will tell what I think of Canadians.

If where you are from it is hard to tell the good guys from the bad maybe you should think about moving to a place where you can. Quality of life is way important.

Somebody seems to think that the LEO's write the laws they enforce. Sure, some may get carried away but it's not up to them as to what the laws are. If you get to know some of them you will find out that there are alot of laws they don't like either but the have to enforce them. Picture this, we get rid of all the cops and turn law enfocment over to the people. What a mess that would be. By the end of the week you will be beggin for the cops to come back. When I was a teenager, I used to sign a yellow paper many times a week. I've been in handcuffs before, I've been in the backseat of a cop car before. I used to think cops are a bunch of no good "you know whats". But I came to realize we need them. They are an important part of everyday lives. Take them away and you have total chaos. They don't make the law, they just enforce it. They cant go around and decide which ones are good laws and which ones are bad. They took an oath, and they have to follow it. Good or bad, until the laws are changed they have to do it. Go back to 9/11. If they didnt care, they wouldnt have died they way they did. Read the post from Bullzeye about the trooper getting killed. They accept the job knowing that can happen. I don't want the job. I would be willing to bet 90% of the cops will lay down their life to save YOU. will you take a bullet for a stranger? They will.
If you want my guns you will have to kill me first. I was born free and to take that from me you better be ready to fight.

7MM....you're absolutely right. They don't get to choose which laws are good and which are bad. They have to enforce ALL of them. That being the case, when the law is passed that says they're going to come and confiscate your guns, I just know you're gonna' meet them at the door with a smile and all your guns nicely stacked and catalogued. By the way...they'll be the same cops that are now saying: "I'll quit the force before I enforce THAT law!"Mudge the cynic7MM....nothing personal. (In spite of your poor judgement in motorcycles.) Just an observation.

Hey Prangle! At my PD, if we make anybody as angry as you seem to be, and/or if they make the sort of accusations that you did, we are required to give them a complaint form and a brochure explaining the procedure for complaining about police service.Send me your address and I will send you the forms. Here is something else for you to complain about:How did anyone as obviously foolish as you get his hands on a computer and get through the registration process? Must have borrowed one and had the owner walk you through it.Before today, your writing instrument was a crayon.

Sounds like dano needs a hug.As far as LEO's and your guns are concerned, I have met more pro-gun LEO's than anti-gun-grabbing LEO's. One of the biggest firearms enthusiasts (and lifetime NRA member) that I have known in my life is an LEO. I have a "friend" (ahem) that cut a guy some slack when it came to the manner in which he was possessing/transporting his competition 1911's in his vehicle. Let's just say that "friend" (ahem) could have gotten in hot water down the road for cutting that guy slack. They're not all out to grab your guns and not all of them have that "above the law" mentality. My cousin wrote his own mother a speeding ticket several years back. He is VERY observant of all laws to include traffic laws and he is a man of character who continues working as an LEO and subsidizing his miniscule paycheck with carpentry work which he could do full time instead of being an LEO and be much wealthier. That's what I call sacrifice when you have four boys and a wife to support.

Right on salzo. At least you are consistent. You guys have to admit that at least some LEOs are guys with badges and uniforms on a big ego trip.

Not to be sexist, but the only problems I've ever had with LEO's has been with women officers. I am respectful at all times but it seems lady officers are already on edge before they talk to you. They probably get a lot of bs from people, but they don't have to take it out on me. My placed burned down last August and the Fireman asked me if there was anything of value that he could retrieve for me, since the building wasn't structurally sound enough to allow me to go in. I told him I had a rather large gun collection I'd like to retreive before the looters do. 30 minutes later Ms. Officer Picket comes up to me in front of all my neighbors and tells me she wants me to wait in the backseat of her patrol car. I asked her what the problem was and she said they "found my stash of illegal guns". Found my stash of guns? "You didn't find them, I told the Fireman were they were. And every gun I have has been bought and purchased legally!" "So just how many of guns do you own?" "Well er... I stopped counting, 20 give er take?" "What are you planning to do with 20+ guns!?". "Planning to do? Shoot em what else? I collect them." "So just what kind of guns are we talking about here?". "Well, a 1911, a Baby Eagle, an Ak Forti...", "AN AK47!? You're not allowed to have assault weapons." "Well actually it's not an assault weapon, it's a semi-automatic rifle in the Kalashinkov configuration." Officer has a blank stare. "You'll have to pick up your guns from the police department." "Uh, that's ok, I'll take em now." "Don't get smart with me, I'm not releasing them to you, you'll have to pick them up at the police station." "You're not 'releasing' them to me? Well I'm not exactly sure how you can LEGALLY just confiscate my weapons, but if you're going to take my guns I want a receipt for everything you take and I want to speak to your superior before you take them." "I'm not obligated to give you a receipt, and as far as speaking with my superiors you can do that at the police station." "Well Ms. Picket, I'm not sure what you think I've done or going to do, but you have NO legal basis to take my guns. Can you please call Officer Alldredge?" "How do you know Ed?" "He's the FFL transfer dealer who handled 90% of my transactions and I want his input on this..." "Oh um... I guess I can let you take them then, just keep them in your trunk and don't show them to anybody."Now that I look back on it I wish I had been so rude that she took 'em then I coulda sued...

Humanity first, law second .... Whats the difference ? All my companions that went by the book are dead! I was "bulletproff" in all sense , not by my choice but by choice of the lord ! that protected me in my quest to serve humanity and help the destitute. Poor choice of destiny make thoose that for upholding the law go against the "LAW". JD

I'm not gonna make many friends with this post, but generally I'd have to say that most Government workers are not the cream of the crop. On the one hand, I take everyone, including LEOs as they come, and they have ocassionally cut me a break..then again some were sadistic jerks too. But recent events make me think that anti-LEO attitudes among decent folks is healthier than it is unfair. Hear about the female State Trooper in PA who passed around her loaded pistol to a group of kids in school? One of them dropped it and grazed their cheek. How often do you see local LEOs that are plainly obese? I mean, common! Lay off on the doughnuts already! There are some * cops out there!!! And affirmative action hires..don't get me started! No, I say it's healthy to have a guarded and slightly negative attitude about LEOs when you consider that on the one hand the socialists want complete gun control, and on the other, local departments (with an average IQ of 85) are buying state of the art equipment you CANNOT own. Hear about the guy who was refused a job in Connecticut because he scored too high on the IQ test? The CT court upheld it!

If I try to leave continental US Territoryand go to any unfriedly nation they "TERMINATE" me , so there goes democracy down the tube (play stupid ) some stupid idiot felt Intimidated by my intelligence. Now they may feel terrorized by it !

In my neck of the woods, the cops are just normal folks who go through weeks of training, background checks, and a whole lotta other hoopla so they can make 10 bucks an hour to put up with drunks barfing in their back seat, mad mouthy speeders, enraged parents whose children could do no wrong, so the only reason they get a ticket is the cops are picking on them etc, etc,. Most are "gun nuts" like me. They are on our trap shooting teams. They never turn down a chance to go hunting, prarie dogs, deer pheasants,,,whatever..In short, they are my friends, who put up with a lot of crud for the measely paycheck they get every month...I feel very fortunate that I haven't been in a negative confrontation with our local law enforcement. Of course, if I break the law I do expect them to do their job....

Mudge buddy 'ol pal, no offense taken!Hey, I was just doing like the NRA does, defending the situation in one big sweep and then wait for it to get broken down,10-4? I understand what your hinting at with the gun confiscation, I just pray to god they remember where they came from if they get that "order". It would be a totally diferent deal then. My respect for leo's don't cover federal leo's, I do beleive 90% of them would take the guns in a heartbeat. But for the "beat cops" who handle everyday calls, I do have the utmost respect for those guys. Granted there are some bad apples, just like in my proffession, the public judges all of them because of a few bad apples. as far as the bike,, to you it is a bad choice in bikes because you can't catch it! I can go faster on one wheel than your bike will do on two! stir stir stir

There used to be a saying in our township about the local police force "the only difference between a cop and a criminal is the badge". This was twentyfive years ago and we really had a problem with these guys. Today, two of them are still sitting in jail and the township has settled all the lawsuits filed by law abiding citizens who were victimized. A few bad apples spoil the whole lot.
