And there still is no requirement to enter the US from Mexico. At least none that can be enforced. [8D]

Americans have to understand why a lot of Canadians are like they are. It is in their genes they have inherited from their ancestors which a large portion where original American colonists that moved to Canada during and after the Revolutionary War because they were British Loyalists. Many left on their own, while others were kicked out. I have never found the Canadians to be overly friendly especially the times when I was in Montreal, but on the other hand where else in the world can you find two countries with such an open border that get along so well. Sure an hell beats being like Israel and the Arab countries.

FACT: Canada is instituting an anti-American policy according to Pa.

I merely reacted to this attack and now I'm the bad guy? Go figure.

I said Canadians argue over which labuage to speak. Anyone care to dispute this observation?

I have not met many Canadians, but the ones I did meet never missed an opportunity to insult America. I stand by my comment as being true and correct.

(Let me amend this statement. I may have met Canadians who did not ID themselves as such so maybe not all were anti-US. Perhaps most are great folks. But the ones who let me know their country of birth were not shy about slinging mud at the US and at Americans.)

Canada is at best a fair-weather friend. They have not supported us in any meaningful way since... ever, as far as I can recall. They harbor murderers because they oppose our death penalty laws. They allow criminals and terrorists access to our borders via their lax regulations. But now they want Americans to present passports? This is nothing more than another insult in a long line of insults.

Canada is not now nor has it ever been a true friend to the US. Yes, I do think I am pretty smart, but you don't have to be smart to recognize the truth. Well, maybe it helps, apparently.

Ignorant..... Try reading some history books. Try telling that to my Grandpa who fought alongside American troops or his brother who was killed. Try telling that to the four Canadian soldiers families who were killed by an American pilot serving alongside American troops fighting terrorists in Afghanistan. As far as Iraq is concerned dont blame us, look to our past Prime Minister {dont even get me started on him}. And the death penalty? Bring it on, I strongley agree with this sort of punishment, I believe they should be executed the same way their victims were {however inhumane that may be}. I've never met a "learned" man that took the actions and words of so few to prosecute so many.

Lowrider- Don't give up on us, you may have tried crossing when they were on the lookout for Hell's Angels, seems every so often they "crack" down on bikers because the general public makes an upcry about a "maurading gang" of bikers terrorizing everybody {most of the bikers I've had the priveledge of meeting have been a heck of a lot nicer then some of the cops I've run into [;)]

Cowdoc- Believe me when I say that I know what your going through, alot of my family is involved in your business as is a large majority of people where I'm from, I still dont think shutting the border down is a great idea {just an opinion, your's as well as others will differ}.

    As for everybody else Thanks!! {for the kind comments}

We are all cut from the same piece of pie.
Our friends from the south have their fair share of wing nuts, just
like Canada. Our former Prime minister Jean whats his face, did our
Country a terrible disservice with his pompous dictatorial stance
    on the war in Iraq.
We most certainly should have supported our brothers to the south.
But in the same breath, look at what your own citizens have said
and done in the anti war stance. When your Country should have
    united at war time.
This passport thing is not one sided, and I will likely soon have to
get a passport to enter the U.S.A.
Everything is changing and what we see today is likely just the
start of a long line of restrictions and personal intrusions, all in
    the name of security.
And just so their is no misunderstanding most of English speaking
Canada supported Bush's line in the sand on Iraq.
It was the pompous one that aliened himself with the French. It is
no secret in Canada that what Quebec wants,is dictated to the rest
    of Canada.
Now we are In deep kaka with the mad cow diseases both here and in the
U.S.A. Pointing fingers Will not help Canada or the U.S.A.

While visiting friends in Alberta (who lived on a farm) there was not much to do around the old homestead at night. Feeling the need to quench a thirst, I would head to the local establishment, that had the necessary fluids to satisfy this desire.

While there, after some small talk, the question inevitable would come up, if I wanted to "put up or shut up." (I guess I might have been a little loud when talking about the quality of the pool players present.) Anyway, I am here to tell you, that the guys north of the border do NOT like having their champs beaten in a game of [8] ball, any more than the fellas south of the border do. LOL

It was all in fun, for all concerned.
Never had any problems when I was there. [:D]

The Border is a crock. My wife is half Canadian and our whole family "unit" is mostly on their side of the border. I live right here at the border and we use the speed lane "NEXUS" at least once a week. Course we had to pay for each individual and prints/background checks were done. I have had good and bad experiences at the border here, but it is much nicer in the rural crossings like Sumas. The officers seem a little less stuffy. I have gotten more grief from our customs than their's. If thier gov. is stupid enough to require passports then our's should also. It is just a pain for both sides. Hell they could not stop a determined terrorist because of their fear of profiling - so they stop Gramps and Ma with a few extra sixpacks to justify their jobs[:(!][:(!][:(!]
Just talked with Mrs.Blue about this - They are only going to require passports from the landed imigrants (Americans who have married Canadians and live there). My Sister-in-law is one - I call her a landed ignorant - and she has of course told Mrs. Blue everything about it. She works down here and crosses the border almost daily. Course now this information is coming from me not reuters[:D][:D]

Wanna see US Customs officers become real peckerheads? Try coming back to the US in a loaded commercial vehicle[:(!] The canuks give no hassle but the US customs officers are a$$holes, mess up on your paperwork just one little bit. I would rather do 20 street deliveries to Chinese restaurants in downtown Manhatten with a 310"WB truck and 53' trailer on New Years Eve before I go back to Canada in a truck!

I used to enjoy reading this board but it's crap like this wich could change somebody's mind. I know I can hear it already, didnt want him on here anyway... It's a wide generalization such as yours Mr pig that makes me wonder about some of you. I'm not picking on you because your definatley not the only one, but how many Canadians do you know that argue about language and hate the U.S.? I could agree if the only place you ever visited was Montreal, but even their not all like that.

We have owned property in Canada for 50 Years.I have never been treated bad at any time.I love that place.I think if you stay away from the more populated areas you will find the people are fantastic! We have alot to learn about the way things are. Donot judge things you donot know about!!! Just my 2 cents.

In some of the replies here, several people have questioned why you would want to go to Canada, or stated that they don't want to leave the US. For those of you that like to hunt, here are some good reasons to visit Canada. Just in the province of British Columbia, not counting the other twelve provinces, you can hunt: Whitetail deer, mule deer, blacktail deer, elk (two kinds), moose (two kinds), caribou, dall sheep, stone sheep, big horn sheep (two kinds), mountain goat, mountain lion, lynx, bobcat, wolf, coyote, wolverine, black bear, grizzly bear, buffalo, and all kinds of ducks that I'm not familair with. Plus, the fishing and the scenery is nothing short of magnificent. And when you get away from the big cities at the borders, the Canadian people are really friendly, kind, and polite, even if they do love to screw us Americans on the currency exchange rate every chance they can.

Besides, this whole topic started by talk of Americans needing passports not necessarily to go to Canada, but to come back home. One US Customs officer told me he likes to make people go back to Canada if they don't have the proper ID, or if he just doesn't like the looks of the ID. Hasn't happened to me yet, but may God have mercy on the poor fool that tries that crap with me. I'll go to my congressman's mothers house and tell her "I need to talk with your son about getting someone fired!"

A fine welcome to the US by US Customs agents. [:(]

My fiance' just arrived from Ontario this evening with her trunk liner ripped out by the US Customs agents during routine check of the trunk while passing through the border check. Instead of removing the liner by disconnecting it by the buttons it was simply ripped down tearing the buttons and snaps off in order to look underneath. Real nice guys [:0].
