I won an auction and the GB seller sent it to me and not my FFL. I hope I can fix this.

Just take it down to your FFL and let them log it into their books and do the proper paperwork. You can fix it without it being a big deal....just let the seller know NOT to do that again. (Not everyone is as nice as you and both dealers can get into a lot of trouble if the books aren't done right.)

As long as you are confident it is not stolen and you have a bill of sale I would let sleeping dogs lie.

Nice, but there may be a reason.

I have a bill of sale and a copy of his DL. It's their first GB sale.

Do the right thing and do what Locust Fork says.

There is a 110% chance that this was an innocent oversight but the Feds will not see it that way. Take it to your FFL for the transfer, the seller will fax his FFL copy and then everything will be square and everyone legal.

hopefully you have a very god relationship with your ffl. i cant imagine this going over too well if you are on occasional customer at a busy shop.

it may be perfectly legit, but this reeks of shennanigans. i might cook the books for a close friend, but the average random guy who walks into my hypothetical shop with this story is walking out unfulfilled.

It appears the seller is a private individual and doesn't have an FFL. Either he didn't want to pay a dealer to transfer it or he's ignorant of the law.

Yikes, should have read the initial post more clearly.

Then the seller is either a dummy or a cheap scape but nonetheless be legal and get it transferred.
