I Just Had To Get It

Went to the gun shop yesterday to check on a special order and gave in to temptation. There she was this lovely gal named Mini. She looked pretty and felt good when I held her against my shoulder and oh....that perfume, Hoopes #9. I just had to get it, I mean her, a 1983 stainless Mini-14 with hi-cap mags in mint condition. Mrs. Gunpaq was less then enthused when I broke the news to her about the new addition to our family over dinner. "Another gun!, the sickness continues", she said. "Yes, another gun, but this one both of us can shoot and it does not kick", I quickly replied hoping for approval. "Well it is pretty loking and it fits well, Ok, but you better buy all the ammo and clean it if you want me to shoot it", she replied after inspecting "Mini", our (my) new toy. Now how am I going to explain the gun that I have on special order that I had gone to check on in the first place?

Pack slow, fall stable, pull high, hit dead center.

When I was living at home, Mom would complain whenever I or dad bought a new gun. So we stopped telling her. SHe might see us with them but she couldn't tell a shotgun from a rifle to save her life, much less distinguish types of guns.

Take her out to a nice dinner and a show. Then send her flowers the day you bring your new toy home. A little kindnest goes a long way. She will be so busy looking at the flowers the new toy will go unnoticed.

The stainless is good, the hi-caps are good, but couldn't you have taken that extra little step up and gotten a Mini-30?

I do give Bill Ruger credit for that. He's the only American gun maker I can think of that has given the slightest attention to the 7.62x39.

Now, now. Let's not start something. A stainless mini is a mighty nice thing to have in either caliber. And more likely to remain legal over the long haul than some other more satanic-appearing semi-autos, to certain superstitious anti-gun activists who like wood better than black synthetics.

Both of the "Mini" sisters were on my list. I just happened to see this Mini-14 first and at an affordable price. Got a really good deal on this gun and I can attest to the saying that if you take care of your local gun dealer he will take care of you. Mrs. Gunpaq likes the Mini-14 and is looking forward to shooting it, but I hope she feels the same way about the "new" gun that I have on order.
