Breaking in a new sling..

I just got my GI leather sling for the M1A/M14 rifle! It is a light tan color and the leather is stiff, kinda like a new baseball mit. How do I go about breaking this thing in? (I'm used to the synthetic ones that don't require anything)I seem to recall reading somewhere that I need to apply some kind of oil to it? Thanks

check the shoe section of wally world and get some Neets Foot oil and rub it in by hand rub hard enough to get it nice and warm. May take several applications

I'd find 3-4 liberal protestors and use it on their back sides....repeat the procedure as needed until leather begins to soften up...

I boiled mine in some water for about 10 minutes. Worked like a charm!

Rembrandt, would you please pay me a visit way out here in Kalifornia? Bring a new leather sling, preferably one of those '03 ones with the metal hooks and stuff. We'll take a trip up to 'Frisco...nah, they might like that. By the by, ConcealedG36, I use mink oil on all my leather products. Soaks it up like water into a sponge, no rubbin', no mussin', no bother.
