Local Company Manufactures Special Type Of AmmunitionAir marshals may use ammunition manufactured by a San Antonio company, which makes bullets that can cause deadly damage to a human but not to an aircraft. Federal authorities said that air marshals are in training now and someday could take down real terrorists with ammunition made in San Antonio. The bullets are made to penetrate and expand only in the human body, and stay there.Roscoe Stoker of RBCD Performance Plus Inc. said that their product is designed to be the most lethal ammunition possible."(It) can't be sold to civilians," Stoker said. When the bullets are fired, they can reach an ultra-high velocity. They're mainly used by law enforcement or military in confined spaces like airliners."The bullet is designed to lose velocity extremely fast, and it would reach a point where it wouldn't have any energy to penetrate a hull," Stoker said.If a bullet were to strike a plane's fuselage, it likely would damage an interior layer, but would not penetrate it all the way through and cause a catastrophic loss of cabin pressure.Stoker said that having armed air marshals on board flights to confront hijackers is the right move."This kind of ammunition is going to make it a certainty. They're not going to come out of it alive," he said.Stoker said that RBCD Inc. is the only company in the United States making the ammunition.Because of security reasons, he would not allow an on-camera tour of RBCD's manufacturing plant. http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/ksat/20010927/lo/915184_1.html

Sounds more like a publicity play than anything.

Talk about pure stupidity! This should be highly available to the public. First of all, it won't penetrate a kevlar vest and it won't overpenetrate walls when used in home defense applications. This sounds better than a Glaser Safety Slug.

Idsman75, you're using common sense, which has no bearing in the gun control arena (if it did, there wouldn't BE a gun control arena!!!).
I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.--Voltare
