* * * * * * I S R A Information Notice No. 01020 * * * * * *ISRA: Gun Shop Confrontations Ill-Advised U.S. Newswire 3 Oct 15:49 ISRA: Gun Shop Confrontations Ill-Advised To: State Desk Contact: Richard A. Pearson of the Illinois State Rifle Association, 815-635-3198; Web: http://www.isra.org CHICAGO, Oct. 3 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) is cautioning firearm dealers not to take the bait offered by a leftist radical group. This warning was issued today after the Washington, D.C.-based Alliance for Justice announced that it would be placing student activists at the doors of gun shops nationwide to pass out "educational" literature addressing the "dangers" of firearm ownership. The group reports that the campaign is intended to counter an upswing in civilian firearm purchases following the Sept. 11 attack on the World Trade Center. "This is an irresponsible attempt by the Alliance for Justice to inflame emotions spurred by the terrorist attack," said ISRA President Richard Pearson. "People are very uneasy these days -- and they certainly don't want some agenda-driven political protester telling them how to protect their families." "The gun control movement has been hard pressed in recent months to get anyone to listen to them," continued Pearson. So the Alliance for Justice would like nothing more than for a gun shop owner or prospective gun buyer to haul off and pop one of their protesters in the chops. They'll do anything to get gun control back in the news -- even if it means provoking a violent confrontation." The ISRA has been in contact with a number of firearm dealer groups and individual shop owners, advising them to coordinate with their local law-enforcement officials when dealing with Alliance for Justice protestors. This latest action comes just days after the ISRA criticized Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) for partnering with the Alliance for Justice in the production of a film that mischaracterizes gun owners, gun manufacturers, and gun owners' groups as dangers to society.
The ISRA is the state's leading advocate for safe, lawful and responsible firearms ownership. For nearly a century, the ISRA has represented the interests of over 1.5 million law-abiding Illinois firearm owners.

That's what cell phones are for.If an 'activist' blocks a public thouroughfare, trespasses on private property, or MOST ESPECIALLY touchs you or speaks to you in a threatening or offensive manner, back up and call the police at once."My name is XXX XXXXXXX and I am at 100 East Gun shop Lane. There is a man blocking the public sidewalk and shouting at me in an offensive manner. I don't THINK he's armed but he appears to be incoherant and I feel threatened by him. I would like an officer to respond and make sure this person doesn't hurt anyone or hurt himself"Everything said is subjective and can be regarded as true in many situations dependingon viewpoint, but will likely get an immediate response from authorities.I found out from running a business...a call to 911 with the words "I don't THINK he's armed" would usually evoke an impressive response.

Usual Barbara Streisand. These POS's feel they hold the moral high ground, which means the end justifies the means, and after all, they're just trying to save us from ourselves. Naturally feel frustrated at being accosted by subhumans I can't shoot, but sometimes I argue with the hammerheads. It's so easy (& fun!) to cross them up in their own illogic!
I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.--Voltare
