WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush said Friday the United States is "in hot pursuit" of terrorists behind the Sept. 11 attacks. A top Bush administration official said U.S. special forces have conducted scouting missions in Afghanistan, where suspected terrorists are hiding. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the work of U.S. and British forces is a prelude to potential military action. The official denied reports that the forces, deployed in the last few days, are actively seeking prime suspect Osama bin Laden

Don't know if this is correct or not, but just heard on the radio that we have had people on the ground there since the 13th, just not making it public knowledge til now. Leaked? I don't know. By who? Again, don't know, just hope it's true.

The "special forces" NEVER make statements about their operations. Did anyone here ever read an article about a Green Beret, Navy Seal or Delta Force operation? Of course not. And you won't hear about their operations in this war either. Anything else is speculation.

You never hear because they don't talk.I spent month in the CPO transit barracks, Subic Bay PI 1971. My room mate was a SEAL.He would leave in the middle of the night. come back 2 or 3 days later covered with jungle crap, throw down his gear sleep for 2 days stright. Get clean up an go again. He never spoke one word while I was there, and I didn't ask anything.

This kind of 'right to know' 'background' had better be disinformation or the release of info the military knows the enemy already has (highly probable if our people were staged from one of the Central Asian CIS states). If not, it's likely to result in the deaths of some good people . . . or, at the very least, some compromised missions. In which case, I hope they find the ppl running their mouths & give *them* some HALO practice over hostile territory, parachute optional. Last thing we need right now is a Clintonoid PR flack giving those vermin info on our ops.

I'm sure we are hearing exactly what we are "supposed" to be hearing which is good for the guys on the ground. I would bet my last gun on the fact that we've probably had at least Delta Force on the ground even long before the attacks.

Seems to me the US should already know where a few of these Afghani bases are. Weren't we the one's helping them supplying weapons and kicking the soviet butts out of there? It was all pretty covert at the time but I'm sure the cia kept records of locations of "secret" bases. Just a matter of time, the troops are closer each minute. I just hope Osami gets torched on the first strike.

Nah, they cleared out of all their old bases before the Trade Center went up. They ain't that stoopid. Not like there's anything in the whole friggin' country that would cause you to make a permanent base, like a river or good hunting grounds.
I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.--Voltare
