Should I buy another Garand?

Hep me out here, folks. I already went through the CMP process to buy one gen-u-wine U.S. Goobermint rifle, caliber .30, M1 Garand. However, I certainly don't want the CMP folks to feel unappreciated, and while I have absolutely no NEED for another one, well... I could conceivably "accurize" the second one (putting it in with the other dozen or so gun projects I have on the burner), and I certainly wouldn't want all those Garands to go to WASTE, after all...SHOULD I get another one, when the money would be much better spent on something foolish, like an investment/savings account?

Don't waste your money on something foolish. Buy the rifle.

I had the same dilemma.....I already have a 1943, all Springfield M1, in primo condition.Last week, when the American Rifleman arrived with the big CMP ad, I d/l another application and sent it along.Soon my Garand will have a brother. I feel that I'm being a good American by helping the ecomony and driving the ATF nuts.Go for it!!

one is a lonely number! you never know, maybe if you get another one they will multiply like rabbits! it's worth the try, just to find out! anyway it's only money, the gov. prints more everyday. [This message has been edited by UNIVERSITY50 (edited 03-30-2002).]

What a question. There should be no doubt in your mind. Of course....BUY IT. My "wall hanger" is a completely restored 1943 Winchester. My shooter is a hand built Springfield. Would I buy another? YOU BET. Mudge the greedy

Well....you could just go and buy one of those very nice 1903 Springfields that the CMP just put on sale and give your Garand an elderly but still exceptional companion. I'm waiting for my Remington to come in....if I had it to do over I think I might go for the Remington 1903A3 instead but am looking forward to the one the one coming. Beach

What is this, a trick question??? You'd just waste the money on something frivolous like food clothing or shelter. Invest the money wisely in another Garand.(Need's got nothing to do with it!)

Thanx, all. You are, of course, right. Why waste money on paying bills, rent, etc., when I could buy yet another rifle? Perhaps I will go the 03A3 route, even tho I already have one of those.Hey, ya suppose I could get another Garand AND another 03A3???? THAT should surely make the CMP fellers feel needed! Don't the liberal pukes tell us that feeling good about ourselves and feeling needed are more important than ANYTHING, even knowing the three R's?
