Hot diggity dog! I'll be passing by Cabela's of Owatonna on my way back from Minneapolis next Thursday. I'm going to have to try one of those babies on for size.

I see they offer monogramming....perhaps a "218" with a picture of a "Bee" would look nice....Timberbeast, didn't see any Buffalo Print models.....I can see you now with a Wine colored version, chainsaw in one hand and cigar in the other...

I thought of "trying one on" inside the store while sporting my floppy-eared hat that I used to keep my hands warm in the deer stand. I thought it would make a wonderful picture.....floppy eared hat, smoking jacket and the "thinker" pose in front of a display in Cabela's of Owatonna. I could get one of the employees to snap the photo. It could get dangerous. Last time I was in that Cabela's I intended to spend $20.00 and walked out with over $120.00 in merchandise.

What we do is send in ol` lowrider, with a box,..have him try one of the red ones on.Then take out of the box,a comb and some Brillcream, stand in front of the mirror, slick his hair back. Then pull out of the box a cigar, cognac and snifter, check himself out in the mirror real good, then hand a camara to someone in the croud that has gathered by now, have them take several pictures of him in front of various dangerous game mounts. Then he could post those pictures on GB,for all Smoking Jackets Club members to veiw,..for a realistic image, not just a robe on a rack.LordBee

Beekeep, Teriffic idea....perhaps a pose next to the African Lions or a charging Elephant....Should one wear a white silk scarf under the jacket as a classy accessory? Perhaps I should call up the Qween Mother and get her opinions as to what is socially acceptable.....Rat....very nice, looks like a jacket for formal occasions...

Timberbeast, I have a ditty bag in that print it is made by Pendleton. Maybe so you could find a smoking jacket from them.

OK,How do I get into the SSS of SSSJ club?I gotta have one of those jackets to wear to my families' annual redneck Christmas Party. Its just not Christmas until we go to the farm to hunt, sit around the fire barrel, drink Natural Light (because to buy anything else in that quantity we'd have to mortgage something), and eat raw oysters with my special homemade oyster sauce (recipes available for $5.95 postage included or will trade for ammo).I think one of those jackets would be perfect.

here is another example...more traditional, in oriental silk...notice quilting, as smoking room was usually kept unheated(so i'm told- perfect for "the hive")...

I say! Quite dashing. Is that the tiger "Hobbes" from the comic strip "Calvin and Hobbes" embroidered on that jacket?I wonder if they have it in a nice shade of lavender?

My good man,Should you by happenstance come upon a jacket in azure blue, or perhaps a dusty periwinkle, with princess seams and weskit cut, do let me know. Of course, a quilted kimono style with embroidery would be rather nice for those times want to slip inot something more comfortable.

I'm definetely out. If ya'll start talking like that in all the posts, I'm gonna find a new place to hang out. You know, like the dude in "Sister Act" - dude to his buddy: "If this turns into a nunn's bar, I'm outta here."

Beekeep...it's almost scary, but there is some resemblence....afraid my hair began turning in high school. Just like Kenny Rogers and Charlie Rich, now I'm known as the "Silver Fox"....no glasses yet, must be from eating deer meat and lots of carrots...

I have located a tasteful snifter possibly befitting the likes of the Smoking Jacket Club. Note, it is adorned with Canadian Geese which may appeal to the Goose Hunting members. [This message has been edited by idsman75 (edited 12-22-2001).]

Sir Rembrandt, I am taken aback by the second guessing of my class and taste. Of COURSE it is made of genuine crystal. Go to www.ebay.com and put "snifter" into the search engine.

I contacted our purchasing agent (Patsy, the butler) and have given him leave from his buttling duties in order to accomplish this task and deliver them personally to the esteemed residence of 218 Beekeep who will, undoubtedly, distribute them amongst club members. It is my understanding that club members are on their honor to reserve the use of these snifters only for official SJC gatherings. I have also disbursed funds to have all other snifters of this design utterly destroyed in order to ensure that the SJC is drinking from true limited edition snifters.

Oh, dash it all! Some miscreatant has gone and purchased it, and for a mere $12,500! I would hope it was one of our auspicious compatriots, with an eye to gifting the membership come the 25th. Come, lads, give forth! Which one of you stout fellows has aquired it?I note they displayed it in the out-of-doors, evincing its suitability for our purposes: a repository for our Dunhills (when we're slumming) whilst we do live pigeon shoots. Cheerio!
