Rape Victim Speaks Out As Attacker Remains At Large 11/15/2001 2:15:25 PMST. LOUIS (KSDK) -- A woman who was a victim of convicted serial rapist Thomas Ingrassia doesn't plan on being a victim again. The woman, known as "Jane" (her real name is not being used for her protection), was raped by 45 year old Thomas Ingrassia after her car broke down on Interstate 270 in 1976. Authorities say Ingrassia, who's been convicted of raping four women, is a sexual predator. On October 7th, Ingrassia escaped from the Farmington Correctional Facility. Jane fears he will seek revenge because she testified against him. Jane never goes anywhere without a weapon. She packs a handgun and has several other firearms. "I will not take them off because I know what he can do, I know how fast he can do it, and if I let my guard down, I could be dead", she said. Jane wants St. Louis women to know what happened to her could happen to virtually any woman. She urges women to be street smart and learn the best methods of self-defense. When asked what she would do if Ingrassia were to walk through her door, Jane replied, "I would warn him and if he kept coming at me, I would shoot him. I would protect myself, my home and my family." Jane also praises the cooperation and assistance she's received from the St. Louis County Police. "They're my heroes," she said. http://www.ksdk.com/news/news_article.asp?storyid=19747
