Consequences of InactionAfter the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed six and injured 1,000, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunteddown and punished. After the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five U.S. militarypersonnel, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down andpunished. After the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19 andinjured 200 U.S. military personnel, Clinton promised that those would behunted down and punished. After the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa, which killed 224 andinjured 5,000, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted downand punished. After the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, which killed 17 and injured 39 U.S.sailors, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down andpunished.Maybe if Clinton had kept his promises, an estimated 7,000 people wouldstill be alive.

I think the reason Klinton did not go after the terrorists was because:A. He didn't have the balls for it.B. If he had gone after them then he would not have anyone to blame or take the heat off of himself when he was under fire for the scandals he is famous for.C. He was afraid it would be VietNam all over again (which proves he did not have true leadership qualities).D. Hillary wouldn't let him because they were getting paid too much by the terrorists to leave them alone.E. The terrorists were helping the Klintons and the Brady bunch (read brainless bunch) further their agenda by way of "anti-terrorist" laws. They always added in anti-second amendment regulations and laws.F. ALL OF THE ABOVE!!!!I personally believe that both Bill and Hillary should have been thrown on jail for the laws they broke, but being in the position they were in allowed them to avoid punishment. It sicken me that our Consgress and Senate that we had at that time did not throw them out of the white house and stright into a jail cell. Who ever said crime doesn't pay never met Bill or Hillary.

Pelican old boy the time will come when the people of the U.S. will wish to God they had nuked the hell out of Iraq, Iran, Libia and about four more countries. The minute either one of them can use weapons of mass destruction they will and i believe Iraq is doing so now with Anthrax. I believe that is where Atta got the Anthrax. Of course I'm not too smart so who knows.

It's called his legacy.. All the things listed herein he should be able to use as the center pieces of infomercials at his Library. In the room under the heading "wagging the Dog" ; when he was being indicted for this or that.

Rosie You are so right on this one. Our great country has always been good at wringing their hands and wishing they had. The nukes we used on japan is still remembered today and if we had done the same to korea and china we would not be facing the threats we face today. never time to act but alwaystime to regret.Nukes demand attention talk and threats do not.

Crap! I agree with Odle, though I would like to think we will not play the nuke card. If it comes down to glassing over afcrapastan and a bit of desert to get back to our freedoms though, then so be it. Last one standing wins. Shoulda listened to Patton's wisdom (used with irony).Andy

Along these lines of thought, you might consider the post on Dracula. Yes I am advertising my post, but it is much along the same idea, which is that we should not go into conflict with regard to morality or right and wrong. Those bounderies have been breeched by the enemy. Compromise only complicates and diminishes the most desirable outcome. Like Col Kurts in Apocalypse Now, we should not worry about anything but the outcome, since in war, once declared only concerns the outcome. Like Vlad Dracula, who impaled his enemies to inflict the maximum terror on his enemies, Kurts focused on "The Horror...the horror", which those of the enemy who survive, remember to tell his comrads. The "Horror" which results is as good at deterring future conflict as was the horror of thermonuclear weapons which prevented a cold war from turning hot. Klinton was afraid to use force at this level because it would have hurt his self image he wanted to give historians, which was of a peace loving genious. History will record him as neither.

Klinton was recently quoted while commenting to one of his "colleagues" that, if the FBI hadn't been so busy investigating his behavior, they would have been able to spend more time preventing Sept 11. However, his actions mandated an investigation. I would say that his immoral actions were the ones that detracted the assets of our Federal Investigators. Not only is Klinton guilty of "inaction" but his actions could very well have been part of the problem as well.

Pelican, I agree 100% with your analysis as far as it goes. But I do believe the seeds were planted in 1975 by the peanut farmer and his wet crotch reaction to when Iran took our embassy people hostage. What was kept relatively quiet by the media in those days was that the 'students' also took some Russians hostage. The Russians were released in a matter of three days - immediately after then-Premier Breshnev had a short word w/ Khomeni while Jimmy was still trying to figure out how to word a polite protest note. Except in matters of personal integrity, even Klinton was a better President.[This message has been edited by Iconoclast (edited 10-17-2001).]

You know what Carter's own mother said about him. She said sure Billy would have made the best president but Jimmy couldn'trun the filling station.

So Irna was the one who took over that embassy? I always figured she had a hand in it.

And Carter was argueably the most educated. Go figure. One point in his favor (as he needs them) he is the best past President. He , as a man is a good guy. Unfortunatly to be a good and effective President being a good guy is not a pre-requisit. Anyone thought about what would be going on now if gore were elected? Jeeeezuz, I would really be scared. Thank God, America and the Supreme court at this pooint for allowing a man in the officde that was capable of surrounding himself with "the Right Stuff".Andy

Much as I truly despise that POS Comrade Klinton, remember, it was the limp-wristed majority of American citizens who elected him, not once, but twice, and many still love him. I think the liberals have succeeded in their program of dumbing-down and PC'ing America, God help us. We as a nation didn't have the nads, not Klinton. Finally the stench got too bad, and now we have a decent man in the White House.
I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.--Voltare
