Drop and cover. This reminds me of the good old MAD sixties. May only Mr. Bin Laden and his associates see the flash.

Ladies and Gentlemen, if one of these things goes off in the Washington DC area, I just want to let you know I enjoyed my time with ya. I'm going to start looking for another place to live, somewhere farther out.

Josey,I don't want to make anyone think that nuclear weapons are not horrifically destructive, but that is a PBS website (pretty "left" leaning) and not real interested on getting the truth out--they're more interested in trying to "scare people into disarmament".For good civil defense information on nuclear war read "Nuclear War Survival Skills" by Cresson H. Kearny--if you have a fast enough connection you can download the whole book from: www.oism.org/nwss/ That site is the nonprofit Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine; you can also order the book from there.Anyone who is slightly "survivalist" in their approach to life should have a copy of this book--especially in light of the recent terrorist events.Joe

Comp. I do not endorse the website,I merely found the maps of the collateral damage if a 10/25 MT nuclear device were to hit interesting,Josey

Just think, most nukes today have MIRVs (multiple independent reentry vehicles). That pinpoint blast map is a moot point. It would look more like an incredibly large shotgun blast as each MIRV can yield up to and beyond 25MT.
