Hi I am new to shooting. I just purchased my first gun today. The person who was teaching me how to shoot said he could not beleive that I could shoot like that for my first time. My father was a shooter and his father was a shooter and his father was a shooter. In the present days I hear that the government is trying to take away my right to have a hand gun when I just received that right a few days ago. I do not know much about the NRA but someone sudgested that I help support them to keep my right to bear arms. Is this true????IP:

The NRA does send a lot of letters to your house all asking for money. However they are our (shooters) biggest and most powerful voice in politics. I am convinced that without them far more of our firearm rights would be lost. If you want to support them become a member. The subscription to the magazine is worth the cost. It will teach you alot about which gun you want next.

I checked a box some time ago on a piece of NRA literature to choose not to receive money mailings, and I have not been deluged since. Unless this is a special service for Life members, I'd say you should all look into it. I don't think the NRA wants to lose a good member just because they prefer to be on the non-junkmail list. Try the website, maybe it can help. Trust me, I don't get the mailings anymore.

I have to say that I'm amazed by everyone saying that they get deludged with mail from the NRA. My membership (that I just renewed for 3 years, today) was set to expire next month. I've gotten 3 letters about my membership expiring in the past 3 months. Other than that, I've received American Rifleman from them and nothing else. And I've donated heavily to NRA-ILA in the past. I'm not upset that I'm left out of this, but I am surprised.

We ALL need help and that is the best reason to join the NRA. What we need help from is the Politicians trying to take our 2nd Ammendment rights. By joining the NRA, you will be another voice saying " You can't have my guns ". The NRA isn't perfect but without them I believe our 2nd Ammendment would be a fond memory. Not only joining the NRA helps to preserve our 2nd Ammendment rights, but voting in only politicians who believe in that right will secure our right to bear arms as well as the future generations right. Please vote pro-gun and please join the NRA. God Bless You!!

Come to think of it, I haven't seen any of that junk for awhile. Could be a Life member thing or maybe just because I never answered.I figure that they have easily wasted my $100on postage & paper several times over in the last 36 years.
