What do you think of the Witness line.....

I am thinking of getting a 10mm, specifically the Witness model imported by EAA for Tanfoglio of Italy. What do any of you with experience with this gun think of its QUALITY and RELIABILITY? I know about the opinions of the 10mm, so you dont need to try to convince me either for or against it. I just need to know about the gun specifically. Sorry to sound snotty, I just wanted to make it clear I dont need to know about the caliber.

    Robsguns,
I had a witness in 9mm back in the mid 90's. I loved it. Shot straight and felt really good in my hand. It was the steel version, not the polymer. The beavertail gave me a great grip, quick everytime. No sliding around the magazine well. I hope this helps. A friend has it now, I still shoot it on occasion when we go to the range. Probably around 2500 rounds through it now, and still shoots great.

Do not mistake my kindness for weakness.

My luck with the witnesses has been spotty at best. Quality control could be better. A worst case scenario would be some ramp work and ejector tweaking. Good luck !!

I once read that Tanfoglio is an old family Co. that's been in business for many years. I should have researched this before posting.

Currently own a Witness .45. Love it. Its reliable, accurate, and fits well in my hand. The only complaint I have with it is I think the finish on mine could have been a little better. Other than that I think they are currently the best gun for the money out there. Like you I also love the 10mm and have been thinking about ordering the 10mm slide and barrel for mine.

greetings, i agree with royc', i also have the witn. in 45 cal , i love the gun and my finish is in good shape, but it took several breaking in rds before it feed good and it still doesn't like hollow pts. ialso like the in frame slide design , a proven improvement on the old slabside design. respt. submitted dads-freehold

I agree with everybody else. I consider the Witness line to be an excellent value and they are not overpriced simply because of a "brand" name. You may wind up with one of the very best 10mms you could buy, better than the S&W, probably.

Thanks for all the replies, I appreciate all the input, feeling good about liking the Witness now, wasnt sure about it. I've read and heard mixed reviews, but from magazines, and you cant really rely on them. Anyone else with more input, good or bad, please keep them coming.

greeting again, i just thought i might add that altho i like the steel frames i have heard the polymers are less desiriable . altho i ran into a fellow in denver at an indoor range that had one in 9mm that seem to operate very good, he said he didn't have any major problems can't remember his name tho. but i remember an artical in spec. weaps. on the witn. 10mm (reputible writers) they called it thegun that the bren ten should have been. respt submitted dads-freehold

Rob, Sorry I'm so late. Tried to get back to you sooner but all hell broke lose here. I just got back from camp where I took my 10mm witness and put 350 rds. thru it and I actully hit the paper every time. I like the way it fits in my hand. If you are used to the military 45 cal. you will like the feel of this weapon. I have the full size not the compact. You should shoot it a couple of times to get the grip of it. I really think you will like this one. Try it, you'll like it.
