Starline Brass, for 454 Casull.......

I have had it suggested by several shooting enthusiasts to use Starline Brass for reloading my 454 Casull, and I always have to decline. I even decline good prices on it. I feel bad telling people thanks, but no thanks. This link is why I dont purchase this brand of brass for my 454 Casull. If you find its information useful, great, if not, it never hurts to have more opinions. I have nothing against Starline Brass, I just dont think its a good idea for the 454 Casull. Here is the link:

    Well shut my mouth!!

Thanks Ryan, this was quite informative. I have not starting reloading yet, but it is on the horizon. I was fortunate to pick up some FA brass at a very good price, so I am very happy and stocked up.

    Boomerang,
I havent started actually reloading the full house loads that I intend to use, yet, either. If you read the thread me and Iconoclast have going you know why. I'm bidding on some 250 rds. of FA on the bay right now, thanks to a fella in the Want Forum, hope I get it. That'll bring me up to over 500 rds. of the brass, the Winchester and Hornady once fired I already have included.

robsguns, you ever come across any testing like that for the 50AE? I have contemplated the Starline brass but for some reason have never commited to the purchase. I have about 200rnds of the Speer gold dot brass (once fired) and had planned on starting my reloading on those cases. Do you think it is just the 454 case? or would the 50AE yield a similar result in the starline brass?

I'm not familiar with the 50AE, so am not qualafied to say for sure, however, I dont think it a problem with Starline brass per say, I think its a problem with the .454 Casull's recoil and pressures, which the 50AE doesnt have? I'd research it some before making any more guesses, let me look around some. I've not read anything ont he 50AE.

    JustC,
I've been doing some reloading today, and came across the 50AE, reminded me about your question. I dont believe the 50AE will be a problem with the Starline Brass, as it only operates at a little over half of the chamber pressure the .454 Casull has, it was somewhere around 36,000 cup(might have been a diff. unit) and the 454 is around 60-65,000, I forget exactly. Big difference, so I dont think you'll have near the recoil or bullet pull effect. I'd use it for the 50AE.
